[en] We report here on a semi-automatic system for the control and measurement of the wire tension in a large detector (23 000 wires) to be used by the UA1 Collaboration in an experiment at the CERN anti pp collider. The method consists in feeding an alternating current of variable frequency to the wire in the presence of a small magnetic field. The wire resonance frequency, which is simply related to the mechanical tension, is found by requiring a 90⁰ phase shift between the driving current and the oscillation of the wire. The control procedure is computer controlled and can be applied to any large system of wire chambers where a precise (< 1%) and fast measurement is needed. (orig.)

[en] A systematic search for narrow resonances in the reaction⁺e^-→hadrons over the center-of-mass energy range W=1.42 - 1.92 GeV has been performed at adone, the Frascati 2 x 1.5 GeV storage ring, with the MEA magnetic detector. There is no evidence for new narrow resonances, with a sensitivity of about 15% of the integrated cross-section of the J/psi (3100)

[en] The authors report on the total cross section for electron-positron annihilation into three or more hadrons as a function of the total c.m. energy in the range W = 1.45 - 1.80 GeV. These data were collected at Adone by the MEA group. (author)

[en] The mass region 2.5 to 3.0 GeV/c² has been searched for evidence of psi-like narrow resonances in e⁺e^- annihilation into hadrons. No evidence for new narrow resonances has been found with a sensitivity of about the 10% of the integrated cross section of the J/psi(3100). (Auth.)

[en] The reaction e⁺e^- → many hadrons has been studied at the total center of mass energy W=1.6 GeV, at ADONE, the Frascati e⁺e^- storage ring. The total cross section and the partial cross section have been obtained for the different channels of reaction e⁺e^-→ many hadrons. The single charged pion momentum distribution, the average multiplicity < nsub(c)> and < nsub(π)> of charged and charged-plus-neutral pion produced are also given

[en] Evidence is presented for the occurrence in e⁺e^- annihilation of a new vector meson of mass 1821 +- 16 MeV and GAMMA=31 +- 15 MeV. (Auth.)

[en] Results are presented for the total cross section of e⁺e^- annihilation into two hadrons at 1.6 GeV: sigmasub(ππ)=sigmasub(KK)=(1.8+-1.1)x10^-33 cm². From these values are obtained the time-like electromagnetic form factors of these mesons: (mod Fsub(π))²=0.24+-0.14 and (mod Fsub(K)))²=0.46+-0.26. (Auth.)

[en] A preliminary analysis of multihadron events in the center of mass energy region W= 2.10-2.15 GeV shows an enhancement in the invariant mass spectrum of two prongs with total charge zero at the mass of the K*(892) which is not observed outside this energy region. This enhancement is accompanied by an increase in the observed charged multiplicity
