AbstractAbstract
[en] The experimental status of D0 and D+ semileptonic decays is reviewed and compared to model predictions. Topics covered are the form factor pole mass and decay rate for D → Klv, the decay rate and form factor ratios for D → K*lv, and, finally, the issue of modes other than Klv and K*lv. 4 refs., 5 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Results of the second run of experiment E653 at Fermilab are briefly reviewed. Preliminary new results are presented for an upper limit on coherent charm production and an upper limit for BR(D0→ bar K*πμν). New results for the production and semileptonic decays for DS mesons are also presented

AbstractAbstract
[en] This chapter discusses two new visual detectors which have high interaction rates, 5-15 μm RMS spatial resolution, 3-4 hits/mm of track, and a single 2-dimensional view. The devices are both triggerable and ''live.'' Topics covered include the operating principle of the scintillation camera, optical considerations, major components of the scintillation camera (target module, image intensifier), the scintillation camera future, the microchannel plate (MCP) as a vertex detector, the MCP test setup, MCP test results, and the MCP future. A table is presented which lists the features of the MCP and the scintillation camera

AbstractAbstract
[en] The properties of a microchannel plate exposed to a high energy hadron beam have been studied. When the beam was passed through the plate transverse to the microchannel axes, about 2 microchannels per millimeter were excited and an rms error of less than 10 μm was obtained. Prospects for improvements are discussed. (orig.)

AbstractAbstract
[en] In a search for charmed particles the reactions π-+p→p/sub r/+μ+X and p+p→p/sub r/+μ+X have been studied at beam energies of 200 and 240 GeV, respectively. Measurements of the beam particle and the slow recoil proton, p/sub r/, were used to reconstruct the mass (M) of the μ+X system. Model-dependent upper limits, sensitive to threshold behavior, are presented for the forward production cross section times the muon branching ratio for high-mass states (6< M2<54 GeV2)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The production of psi (3.1) mesons is reported for the reactions π-+Fe→μ++μ-+anything, at 200 GeV, and p+Fe→μ++μ-+anything, at 240 GeV. For psi production, distributions in xequivalentP/subL//P) and P/sub perpendicular/ are given. For xgreater than or equal to0.5, the ratio of the psi production cross sections in iron for pions to that for protons is found to be 7.4plus-or-minus2.0

AbstractAbstract
[en] A missing-mass search has been made for negatively charged boson resonances B- produced in the reaction π-p → B-p at beam momenta of 40, 100, 200, and 240 GeV. Approximately 600 000 events were included in the final mass spectra. In the mass region 2 < or = M/sub B/ < or = 12.5 GeV no statistically significant enhancements were observed. The 5-standard-deviation upper limit on the production of narrow resonances is of the order of 10 μb for 2 < or = M/sub B/ < or = 10.5 GeV
