AbstractAbstract
[en] The subject of this paper was hadron spectroscopy with special emphasis on the hadrons composed of heavy quarks. The review of previous investigations is of special interest at this time, since precision experiments on the masses of the three bb-bar states chi/sub bJ/(1P) with J = 0,1,2 have just been finished and yield valuable information on the spin-orbit part of the Quark-antiquark potential. The data and their theoretical description lead to the conclusion that the short-range part of the potential is well compatible with one-vector-gluon-exchange dominance, whereas the long-range part is compatible with a scalar confinement and is certainly not a pure vector. The experimental data are shown in Heimlich's and Waldi's summaries. The first evidence for a heavy /sup 1/P/sub 1/ state, the cc-bar meson h/sub c1/ (3526), seen in the formation process p-barp →h/sub c1/→J/Psi+chi was reported. However, this evidence is weak (5 events on a not yet well determined background) and needs confirmation. Sklarz and Favart both covered radiative J/Psi decays, and their results on J/Psi→γ+ξ(2230) are controversial. The Mark III group sees a signal with more than 3.9σ in the K/sup +/k/sup -/-decay mode of the ξ and with more than 3.0σ in the K/sub s/0K/sub s/0 mode. The DM2 group has no signal and their limits contradict the Mark III branching ratios if the ξ width is zero. For a width around 50 MeV, the two experiments may be statistically compatible, which will only be known after completion of the DM2 analysis

AbstractAbstract
[en] Particle physics experiments have established 5 CP-violating observables: Re(εK), Im(εK), Re(εK'), Im(εK'), and A(B0,B0-bar → J/ψK). The five results are very shortly reviewed. They are then discussed with respect to their classification into four types of CP violation (CPV): 1) CPV in meson-anti-meson oscillations, 2) CPV in decays with contribution of strong phases, 3) CPV in decays without contribution of strong phases, 4) CPV in the interference between oscillation and decay. In the neutral K-meson system, type (1) and type (4) are strongly related because of unitarity. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] This reviews covers the present status of experimental results on B-meson decays. It concentrates on recent results and omits all searches for decay modes which are not expected in the frame of the standard electroweak theory. Some topics covered are: (1) masses of B-mesons; (2) B-mesons mean lifetime; (3) nonleptonic B decays; (4) baryonic B-meson decays; (5) charmless nonleptonic B decays; (6) inclusive semileptonic decays; (7) exclusive semileptonic decays; (8) the CKM matrix elements. 59 refs., 10 figs., 7 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] This talk is a summary of the experimental topics covered in this conference on hadron spectroscopy. Contrary to the beginnings of hadron spectroscopy when attention was on baryon excited states, current interest has shifted to meson spectroscopy. This conference has been a reflection of this current emphasis

AbstractAbstract
[en] The third generation of quarks, anticipated in 1973 by Kobayashi and Maskawa as one of the possibilities to explain CP violation of the K/sup o/-meson system within the framework of the Standard Model and in 1975 by the discovery of the third generation of leptons, was found at FNAL in 1977. It showed up in form of the Υ(1S) resonance, the lowest-energy 1-- state of the b-quark- anti-b-antiquark system. Experiments at DESY in 1978 showed that the b-quark has charge 1/3. These and further experiments showed that the b- anti-b system follows the same spectroscopic and strong-interaction rules as the c- anti-c system. The physics of the b- anti-b system has been studied extensively at the DESY e+e- storage ring DORIS using the detectors DASP-II, PLUTO, LENA, Crystal Ball, and ARGUS, and from 1980 on at the Cronell e+e- ring CESR using CLEO and CUSB. Today we know twelve states of the b- anti-b system in contrast to seven of the c- anti-c system and only four in the e+e- bound state system positronium

AbstractAbstract
[en] New experimental results are presented on p-p elastic scattering in the t range from 0.8 to 10 GeV2 at √s=53 GeV. The data have been obtained using the Split-Field-Magnet detector at the CERN Intersecting Storage Rings ISR. The differential cross section shows no second diffraction minimum, but a change of slope near t=-6.5 GeV2. The previous results of this experiment are also summarized and discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] The weak interaction of quarks is able to transform a neutral particle into its antiparticle, e.g. K0 → K-bar0 and K-bar0 → K0, and these transitions can lead to ''flavour oscillations'' o'' mixing'' between K0 and K-bar0. In the paper flavour oscillations are discussed under the topic headings: phenomenology of flavour oscillations, time-integrated observation methods, experimental results on DD-bar oscillations and BB-bar oscillations, and theoretical implications. [en] This is an updated version (April 30, 1980) of recent results obtained with the DASP detector at the DORIS storage ring. The main results are the electronic partial width, the leptonic branching ratio and the total width of the UPSILON(9.46) meson, the electronic width of the UPSILON'(10.02) meson and the hadronic R value at 9.4 GeV
