[en] Nuclear Malaysia e-mails can be accessed from any computer and anywhere, even worldwide, via web access. However, this mobility is lost when the e-mails are moved to a personal computer into archive files such as Microsoft Outlook data files. Outlook e-mail archives can only be read on the computer where it is stored. This removal has to be done because of storage space constraints on the e-mail server. This paper shows how e-mail archives can be made portable, brought and read anywhere using a free portable e-mail client application such as Mozilla Thunderbird, Portable Edition. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] PUSPATI TRIGA Reactor is an only nuclear research reactor in Malaysia that operated for 32 years since 1982. Nowadays, some of the components and systems are facing with the ageing. One of the systems is the secondary cooling system which is very important system to remove heat from primary side. These study aim to produce the baseline data information of components integrity for secondary cooling system. There are several analysis will be implemented such as microstructure study, corrosion test and secondary water analysis. Replica is the method that use optical microscope to analyze the microstructure of the pipe. Visual analyze and water chemistry analysis implemented to identify the elements that cause of corrosion to the component. Spectrometer will be use to analyze the water from secondary coolant. [en] Malaysian research results are world class and its research papers are read all over the world. With this visibility, some elements in the papers should be localized so that the readers know that this is the work of Malaysians. This paper discusses two elements for example statement of authors name and preparation of diagrams. (author)

[en] Technical specifications for procurement requires the approval of the Jawatankuasa Penyemak Spesifikasi Teknikal Tender/ Sebutharga Agensi Nuklear Malaysia. This paper provides guidance for those who have to prepare a technical specification. In addition, the technical specification online library is introduced to facilitate them to re-use old technical specifications for new procurements or to make those the bases for drafting new specifications. [en] The EPR is a 1,600-MWe pressurised water reactor (PWR) type nuclear power plant (NPP) made by France and Germany. This paper describes the auxiliary systems in EPR. The systems include, among others, the chemical and volume control, safety injection or residual heat removal, in-containment refueling water storage tank, emergency feed water, component cooling water, essential service water, power supply, and fuel handling and storage. AbstractAbstract
[en] The probability of a component, system or structure failure resulting from ageing degradation normally increases with the time of exposure to service condition unless countermeasures are taken. The objective of the management of ageing is to determine and apply these countermeasures. The Reactor TRIGA PUSPATI ageing management includes activities such as protection, repair, refurbishment or replacement, which are similar to other activities carried out at a reactor facility during routine maintenance or when a modification project takes place. However, it is important to distinguish between these different activities, because the management of ageing requires the use of methodology which will detect and evaluate deficiencies produced by the service conditions and will lead to the application of countermeasures for prevention and mitigation of the deficiencies. One approach to this methodology is a determination that the reactor systems and components can perform their safety functions during their service life and under the service conditions. This can be achieved through appropriately selecting systems and components which should be included in long term surveillance program, through data collection and through evaluation of the potential ageing effects. The above activities will be followed by countermeasures for prevention and mitigation of the ageing effects to ensure an adequate level of safety for the reactor facility. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The PUSPATI TRIGA reactor (RTP) reached its first criticality status on 28 June 1982 with an installed capacity of 1 MW. After 26 years in operation, the ageing process has set in and many systems in the reactor need maintenance and replacement. Among these systems, the more critical one is the heat exchanger system. Currently, the shell and tube type heat exchanger is being used. It has been observed that the performance of the heat exchanger has dropped significantly over the years. Visual inspections indicate that the tubes are corroded or even to the extent of being totally blocked. With this in mind and also with the setting up of the new Nuclear Power Division, whose mission includes upgrading the present reactor to 3 MW, the heat exchanger system is essential and a critical component. Literature indicates that the use of plate type exchangers are more efficient than the current shell and tube type. This paper will look into the engineering and safety aspects of using the plate type heat exchanger to the current TRIGA PUSPATI reactor. (Author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Nuclear medicine is the technique used to produce the image of the target organs by injecting radioisotope into the patient body for diagnosis. Therefore, it is important to ensure a clean and safe preparation of the radioisotope to avoid any contaminants entering human body. The preparation facility shall comply with the GMP standard requirements. A study has been conducted to monitor all important parameters of Malaysian Nuclear Agency GMP clean room. This paper will present the finding on the current performance of the clean room facility and suggestions to enhance the clean room performance in the future. (Author)
