AbstractAbstract
[en] The recent precise measurement of the neutral pion photoproduction on the proton near threshold seems to be inconsistent with the predictions of the low-energy theorems on photoproduction of pions. In this note, we have sought to resolve this problem, in the framework of an approximate SU(2)xSU(2) symmetry of the pion-nucleon dynamics, by incorporating the contribution from the nucleon matrix elements of the equal-time commutator between the divergence of the axial-vector current and the electromagnetic current, which was introduced earlier by Furlan et al. We find that a mean value of the non-strange quark mass m-circumflex=1/2(mu+md)=(7+-2) MeV, leads to an estimate of the symmetry breaking terms compatible with experiment. (author). 20 refs, 2 tabs

AbstractAbstract
[en] Parity violating asymmetry in high energy proton-nucleon scattering has been studied using the Glauber theory and meson exchange potential model for weak interactions. By varying the weak interaction parameters within the allowed range, we find that it is possible to get the theoretical asymmetries to agree in sign with the observed ones in p-vector-H2O scattering at 1.5 and 6.0 Gev/c but not in magnitude which always remains much smaller. AbstractAbstract
[en] The calculations for the neutrino absorption cross sections for supernova neutrinos in 40Ar have been done in the local density approximation (LDA) taking into account Pauli blocking and Fermi motion effects. The renormalization of weak transition strengths in the nuclear medium and the effect of Coulomb distortion of the lepton produced in charged current reactions are taken into account. The expected event rates for electrons (positrons) have been calculated for a 3 kT liquid argon detector for a supernova occurring at 10 kpc from earth

AbstractAbstract
[en] We have fitted new parameter sets for finite and infinite nuclear system within the relativistic mean field theory (RMF). The contributions of isospin vector channel are incorporated on top of the non-linear Walecka and effective mean field motivated extended Lagrangian. This fitting is taken care within the minimization by using simulated annealing method (SAM). We discussed some more properties of finite and infinite nuclear system with these newly obtained parameters and compared with the well established effective mean field like NL3 and G2 interactions
