AbstractAbstract
[en] A patent application has been made for an electric filter for use in systems for supplying power to the field windings of proton synchrotron magnets. The filter contains a synchronizing device, inductances and a capacitor-type battery connected across controlled valves into the circuit of a G-type filter. The distinctive feature of the filter is the fact that, in the interest of greater economy, it is equipped with a capacitor-type battery for advance recharge. This circuit is in the form of series-connected valves and resistors connected to the filter output. To increase the operational stability of the recharge valves, the recharge circuit of the capacitor-type battery is shunted by means of an additional power resistor. The authors present a functional diagram of the proposed electric filter and time diagrams of voltages and currents which explain the simultaneous operation of the filter and the power supply system of the accelerator magnet. AbstractAbstract
[en] Evaluation of results relative to mathematical analysis of hydrodynamic events in the continuously-casted ingot core by application of conduction electromagnetic mixing is presented. The electromagnetic mixing regime is realized in industrial tests in the course of continuous casting the St3sp and St10sp steels with the rate of 0.4 m/min. The problems related to technology of steel casting and industrial application of conduction electromagnetic mixing are considered in the work(4). The results obtained are in fair agreement with the results of mathematical modelling. 5 refs., 3 figs

[en] The concept of a magnet system for the Nuclotron is based on the following. Pulsed magnets with a cold iron yoke and a hollow superconductor winding are used. The value of the iron-shaped magnetic field in the central bore is about 2 T. The magnet surrounded by a nitrogen shield and a vacuum shell has no helium vessel. All magnets are connected in series with supply and return helium headers. Two-phase helium is used as a coolant. The magnet system of the accelerator is divided into two strings. The strings are assembled of magnet-cryostat units. Each unit is tested on the test stands

[en] This is a report made at the scientific seminar dedicated to the 50th anniversary of LHE, JINR. A historical overview of work performed from 1977 to 1993 on design and construction at the laboratory of the Nuclotron superconducting accelerator is presented. The new technical solutions and inventions made in the course of its construction, the main parameters of the accelerator subsystems proposed during the design and achieved in 25 runs of its operation are described. These runs were devoted to the accelerator tune-up and to the physics experiments with different beams of relativistic nuclei obtained in 1993-2003. Plans on improvement of the parameters of the accelerator, design of a booster and superconducting channels for beam transporting to physical setups, realization of multiturn injection of polarized deuterons for increasing intensity in experiments on spin physics are being reviewed

[en] Some problems are considered that relate to the technical feasibility of the magnetic field strength increase rate and ensuring the synchrotron acceleration in this regime, if a certain acceleration system is used. The studies carried out show the technical feasibility of ensuring the magnetic field strength increase rate and the advantages of the two-step acceleration in the JINR synchrophasotron. This allows the accelaration of nuclei with a higher atomic number than that of helium to be ensured at moderate expenses

[en] A system for suppression of magnetic field low frequency pulsations of the Dubna synchrophasotron is described. It is performed by means of the compensation coils laid near the main coil. The compensation coils are supplied from the amplifier strength transistor and are switched on the amplifier arm so that coil constant ampereturns are subtracted, and variables being put together, are directed in antiphase against ampere turns of the synchrophasotron main coil. In series with the compensation coils resistors are switched on. Tne transistor amplifier is monitored by coupling coils laid near the compensation coils via correcting chains. Its operation stability is provided by feedback over voltage and current. This solution quaranteed a reliable operation of the system and suppression of low frequency pulsations, for example, of 50 Hz, not less than by 15 times
