AbstractAbstract
[en] We develop the formalism to study the hyperon-nucleon interaction potential within the bound-state approach to the SU(3) Skyrme model. The general framework is illustrated by applying it to the diagonal ΛN potential. The central, spin-spin and tensor components of this interaction are obtained and compared with those derived using alternative schemes

AbstractAbstract
[en] The development of the Prince William Sound Oil Spill Recovery Institute's (ORI) nowcast-forecast information system was discussed. OSRI addresses oil spill response and prevention research and development in the Arctic and subArctic. A realistic electronic model of the ecosystem was a much needed tool for efficient prioritization of oil spill technologies. The OSRI Sound Ecosystem Assessment (SEA) research program focused on developing a physical-biological model that consisted of static and biological resources that change over long time periods. This includes bathymetry, shoreline type, and substrate-dependent vegetation. It also focused on developing a model of dynamic properties such as wind, weather, plankton, and wildlife populations that undergo significant changes on annual or shorter time scales. The nowcast information system is a long-term development project which uses the Princeton ocean model (POM), a static runoff model, a network of weather and water observation stations, an Intranet which allows the observational data to run in near-real time and an Internet home page. It will contribute to sustaining the natural resources of coastal areas. It was concluded that the nowcast-forecast information system has short-term applications to oil spill prevention and response and long-term applications to the natural resources at risk to spills. 33 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] One of the modifications of the non-linear σ model, the Dalarsson model is treated in a massive version to describe the N N interaction. In order to easily compare with results of the Skyrme model, the product Ansatz is used. Results for the central spin-spin, tensor and spin-orbit contributions are shown. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] We discuss, in the framework of the bound state approach to SU(3) Skyrme model, the baryonic number-two strange sector. We study situations where the baryons involved are bound to form dibaryons and where free baryons are simply scattered. In the first case, the dibaryon spectrum is calculated with a generalized axially symmetric ansatz. A prediction about the existence of the H-particle is also made. In the second case we use the product ansatz to develop a formalism to study the general baryon-baryon- interaction potential. Results are presented for the ΛN interaction. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] A variational method has been used to estimate the single particle energies for the 16O hypernucleus in a relativistic description with meson exchange in the mean field approximation. Coupling constants and meson masses have been selected among the sets found in the literature that reproduced reasonably the phenomenological shell model potential for 16O, 16O sub(ß) and 16O sub(μ). [en] The proposition of Dalarsson of a simplified Skyrme model, where the quartic term is absent and a phase is added to the soliton field is tested to estimate the N N interaction as compared to results of the literature for the usual SU(2) Skyrme model in the product approximation. (author)
