AbstractAbstract
[en] This article summarizes measurements of the 8B decay rate in the sun and neutrino oscillation parameters made with the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory (SNO), and discusses prospects for future improvements to the analysis. These improvements include a particle identification analysis for the proportional counter data obtained from the final phase of data taking, which should significantly improve the signal to noise ratio for that phase. Other analyses discussed include searches for high frequency temporal fluctuations in the solar neutrino signal, and supernovae with no optical signal, both of which resulted in a null result.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The principal source of energy for dynamic processes of the earth, such as plate tectonics is thought to come from the radioactive decays of 238U, 232Th, and 40K within the earth. These decays produce electron-antineutrinos, so-called geo-neutrinos, the measurement of which near the earth's surface allows for a direct measure of the total radiogenic heat production in the earth. The KamLAND and Borexino experiments have both measured a geo-neutrino flux significantly greater than zero. As shown in these proceedings, more precise future measurements will significantly constrain earth composition models.

AbstractAbstract
[en] We report results from a combined analysis of solar neutrino data from all phases of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory. By exploiting particle identification information obtained from the proportional counters installed during the third phase, this analysis improved background rejection in that phase of the experiment. The combined analysis resulted in a total flux of active neutrino flavors from 8B decays in the Sun of (5.25 ± 0.16(stat.)+0.11−0.13(syst.)) × 106cm−2s−1. A three-flavor neutrino oscillation analysis combining this result with results of all other solar neutrino experiments and the KamLAND experiment yielded Δm221 = (7.4l+0.21−0.19) × l0−5eV2, tan2 θ12 = 0.446+0.030−0.029, and sin2 θ13 = (2.5+1.8−1.5) × 10−2. This implied an upper bound of sin2 θ13 < 0.053 at the 95% confidence level (C.L.).

AbstractAbstract
[en] An experimental test of the electron energy scale linearities of SNO+ and EJ-301 scintillators was carried out using a Compton spectrometer with electrons in the energy range 0.09-3 MeV. The linearity of the apparatus was explicitly demonstrated. It was found that the response of both types of scintillators with respect to electrons becomes non-linear below ∼0.4MeV. An explanation is given in terms of Cherenkov light absorption and re-emission by the scintillators.

AbstractAbstract
[en] Large liquid scintillation detectors could be an alternative to water Cherenkov and liquid argon detectors for high energy neutrino measurements, in the GeV energy range, suitable for both cosmic ray studies and a long baseline neutrino experiment. We demonstrate the ability of a 65 ktonne detector to distinguish the lepton flavor, and show a track finder.

[en] This poster presented a pulse shape-based analysis of the proportional counter data from the third phase of the Sudbury Neutrino Observatory. It was shown that the neutron signal from the 3He-filled proportional counters could be maintained at about 75% for a suppression of 98% for the alpha background signal.

[en] This contribution describes laboratory measurements designed to investigate the optical properties of linear alkybenzene (LAB). Presented here is the measurement of the scintillation light timing profiles due to alpha and beta-particle excitation, the calculation of alpha/beta discrimination capability based on these timing distributions, and the investigation of electron energy scale.

AbstractAbstract
[en] The 'Applied Antineutrino Physics 2007' workshop is the fourth international meeting devoted to the opening of the neutrino physics to more applied fields, such as geophysics and geochemistry, nuclear industry, as well as the nonproliferation. This meeting highlights the world efforts already engaged to exploit the single characteristics of the neutrinos for the control of the production of plutonium in the civil nuclear power reactor. The potential industrial application of the measurement of the thermal power of the nuclear plants by the neutrinos is also approached. earth neutrinos were for the first time highlighted in 2002 by the KamLAND experiment. Several international efforts are currently underway to use earth neutrinos to reveal the interior of the Earth. This meeting is an opportunity to adapt the efforts of detection to the real needs of geophysicists and geochemists (sources of radiogenic heat, potassium in the court, feathers.) Finally more futuristic topics such as the detection of nuclear explosions, of low powers, are also discussed. This document gathers only the slides of the presentations
