AbstractAbstract
[en] Using new data on the unpolarized differential cross section for the reaction pp → πd, obtained by the NESIKA collaboration at SIN, the energy dependence of the anisotropy parameters γ0, γ2, and γ4 is interpreted phenomenologically. Especially the energy dependence of γ4, which is stronger than predicted theoretically, could be understood as being due to the behaviour of a production amplitude with lsub(π) = 3 near threshold. Unter Verwendung neuer Daten ueber den unpolarisierten differentiellen Wirkungsquerschnitt fuer die Reaktion pp → πd, die von der NESIKA Kollaboration am SIN gewonnen wurden, wird die Energieabhaengigkeit der Anisotropieparameter γ0, γ2 und γ4 phenomenologisch interpretiert. Insbesondere koennte die Energieabhaengigkeit von γ4, die staerker ist als theoretisch vorhergesagt, durch das Schwellenverhalten einer Produktionsamplitude mit lsub(π) = 3 verstanden werden. AbstractAbstract
[en] Up to now the reaction p + p → π+ + d has been investigated with an unpolarized target. The experimental knowledge of the differential cross section is briefly reviewed. Expressions are given for the differential cross section, using also a polarized target, and information obtained from such an experiment on production amplitudes is discussed. For proton lab. energies up to 1 GeV only pion partial s, p and d waves are supposed to be effective. The seven kinematically permissible production amplitudes can be fully determined from differential cross section measurements using polarized beam and target if only two deuteron vector polarizations without polarized target are determined in addition. Some solid angle restrictions for 'usual' dynamically polarized targets are discussed. (orig.)

Bisher wurde die Reaktion p + p → π+ + d nur mit unpolarisierten Targets untersucht. Die experimentelle Kenntnis des differentiellen Wirkungsquerschnitts wird kurz dargestellt. Ausdruecke fuer den differentiellen Wirkungsquerschnitt bei Verwendung eines polarisierten Targets werden angegeben und die von solchen Messungen zu erwartenden Informationen ueber die Produktionsamplituden diskutiert. Dabei wird angenommen, dass fuer Protonenenergieen bis zu 1 GeV im Laborsystem nur s-, p- und d-Pionpartialwellen auftreten. Die sieben kinematisch erlaubten Produktionsamplituden koennen vollstaendig durch Messung des differentiellen Wirkungsquerschnitts mit polarisiertem Strahl und polarisiertem Target ermittelt werden, sofern lediglich zwei Deuteronenvektorpolarisationen zusaetzlich bestimmt werden. Schliesslich wird der Einfluss von Raumwinkelbeschraenkungen diskutiert, die bei Verwendung ueblicher dynamisch polarisierter Targets auftreten. (orig.)Primary Subject

AbstractAbstract
[en] The analyzing power, Ayo, of the reaction pp → π+d has been measured to an accuracy of about 1% at 4 energies between 500 and 600 MeV at S.I.N. Pions and deuterons were detected in coincidence with scintillation detectors, using TOF techniques for event identification. Asymmetry results show considerable energy dependence in magnitude and shape. Final results have been fit, together with precise differential cross section data which were corrected for multiple scattering, pion decay, and muon detection. Numerical values of Legendre polynomial coefficients to describe Ayo and the differential cross section are presented. 2 references, 1 figure, 1 table

AbstractAbstract
[en] The authors have measured the analysing power of elastic proton-proton scattering at 582 MeV for 14 angles from 20 to 800 CM. The angular range was limited to >200 by the energy loss of the recoil protons. The experiment was performed at the PM1 beam line at SIN. A beam intensity of about 108 particles s-1 was used. (Auth.)

[en] The Wolfenstein parameters P, D, R, and A for 20<=theta(lab)<=150 have been measured at incident proton kinetic energies of 310, 390, 490 and 590 MeV. The experiment was performed at SIN, using multiwire proportional chambers placed directly in a polarized proton beam. Preliminary results are presented for 20<=theta(lab)<=80. Qualitatively good agreement with phase shift predictions is observed
