AbstractAbstract
[en] The antiproton as a probe of the atomic nucleus is discussed in the expectation that fairly intense beams of high quality will be available in 1983 at the Low Energy Antiproton Ring (LEAR) facility at CERN and possibly also in some other laboratories at a later date. Several antiproton-nucleus experiments are proposed, and the possibility of observing antiprotonic nuclei as well as antineutronic nuclei is discussed. It is demonstrated that even for the study of the elementary nucleon-antinucleon systems it could be advantageous to use nuclei rather than protons as target. The possibility of investigating several antiprotonic atomic systems is also briefly discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] Antimatter and matter-antimatter systems are briefly discussed. Results of the antiproton-nucleus scattering experiments at LEAR are described, with the emphasis on unfinished experiments and on proposed experiments yet untouched. A few remarks on antiproton and antideuteron experiments at KAON are then presented

AbstractAbstract
[en] A brief summary of the first elastic and inelastic scattering results obtained at the European low-energy antiproton ring facility is presented. The constraints thereby put on the antiproton-nucleus interaction are discussed, and the unique features of the antiproton as a probe of the nucleus are pointed out. In particular, it is stressed that the near blackness of the nucleus to antiprotons could be exploited in the (antiproton, neutron) reaction to specific states excited mainly by the long-range part of the nucleon-antinucleon interaction. The spin-isospin parts of the interaction as well as some isovector nuclear excitations could thus be studied

AbstractAbstract
[en] We propose to investigate the (antip, antin) reaction as part of a study of the antiproton as a nuclear probe. Some characteristics of the antiN-A annihilation will also be investigated. We will search for isovector giant resonances and explore the missing Gamow-Teller strength in the β+ direction. 8 refs

AbstractAbstract
[en] The (3He,d) reaction on Ni isotopes was studied at 30.2 MeV bombarding energy. Twenty-six unbound analog states in Cu isotopes were populated, and the observed differential cross sections are presented. Two different distorted-wave Born-approximation methods for stripping calculations to unbound analog states were used in the analysis. Proton spectroscopic factors were deduced and compared with published neutron spectroscopic factors for the parent states. The agreement is generally good, except for the pair of isotopes 62Ni-62Cu. The different sensitivity to the transferred angular momentum of the corresponding (d,p) and (3He,d) reactions is discussed. The present data are compared with the results of previous studies of the (3He,d) reaction in the A approx. 90 mass region. It is concluded again that the (3He,d) reaction to analog states is complementary to the (d,p) reaction for the study of levels in the parent states which are populated through large angular momentum transfers
