AbstractAbstract
[en] Very recent results on rotational band structures in 155,156,157Dy are presented. More than ten sequences are observed in the spin range 30 < I < or approximately 40 h/2π. Features discussed are the hsub(11/2) proton crossings, the second and third isub(13/2) neutron crossing, interacting bands at high spin, strongly coupled bands and the possible observation of a shape change at spin 40 h/2π in 156Dy. AbstractAbstract
[en] New and preliminary experimental results on K isomers in Os nuclei are discussed. The experiments were performed at the UNILAC, GSI Darmstadt, with a pulsed beam of 136Xe of approx. 4.5 MeV/amu; the targets bombarded were 48Ca and 48,50Ti

AbstractAbstract
[en] The properties of stably deformed rare earth nuclei are discussed. Moments of inertia are derived from discrete line and continuum γ-ray spectroscopic data and a rigid body type of rotational behaviour is observed. The implications of this phenomenon are discussed and tentative evidence for loss of neutron pairing is considered. The γ-ray decay modes of good rotors and transitional nuclei are compared. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The yrast spectroscopy of Z>64 nuclei close to the proton drip line is discussed. This is a region of shell model nuclei in which high-spin excitations are accessible with heavy ion beams, and the occurrence of many isomers will facilitate future spectroscopic study of these nuclei to much higher spins that were observed in these investigations. The study of πhsub(11/2)sup(n) excitations in n=82 nuclei above 146Gd provided particularly interesting results, since in certain respects their properties match shell model predictions better than those of jsup(n) states near traditional doubly magic nuclei. First results for N=81 nuclei above Z=64 were also reported, but much work remains to be done in the Z>64, N<82 quadrant

AbstractAbstract
[en] Conversion-electron and γ-ray spectra up to 7 MeV from the 208Pb(p,p') reaction at Esub(p) = 17.3 MeV and from the 207Pb(d,p)208Pb reaction at Esub(d) = 10 MeV have been measured. The electron spectra exhibit two strong E0 lines corresponding to transition energies of 4863+-5 keV and 5233+-5 keV in Pb which agree well with those of the known 0+ states in 208Pb observed in (p,t) and (t,p) reactions. New 4-6 MeV, M2 and E3 ground-state transitions have been observed but no candidate for an E0 transition from a two-octupole-photon 0+ state could be identified. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] During recent years a considerable amount of information has been obtained on high-spin isomers in the trans-lead region. It proves that these isomers very frequently decay by E3 transitions. The B(E3) values of these transitions are scattered in the region 1-50 single particle units (W.u.). The systematics of four transition categories for classifying new E3 transitions in the trans-lead region are discussed

AbstractAbstract
[en] The low temperature nuclear orientation facility KOOL was used for a systematical study of the very neutron-deficient Au isotopes where the on-line technique is compulsory due to the short lifetimes involved. The measurement of the magnetic moment of the 4.6 min 189Au 11/2- isomer, a preliminary result on the same state in tsub(1/2) = 0.9 sec 191Au and the moment value of the tsub(1/2) = 10.7 min 186Au 3- ground state is reported. Several spins and mixing ratios in 189Pt, 186Pt and 191Au have been determined as well

AbstractAbstract
[en] A combination of semicircular Si(Li) detectors with two magnetic lens spectrometers is shown to offer a possibility to construct an effective spectroscopic instrument for multipolarity determinations. The method is based on the fact that the angular correlation between the electron-positron pair is sensitive to multipolarity, even at high transition energies. Response characteristics and multipole discrimination power are given for different detection geometries. The calculations are based on the zero-order Born approximation (ZBA) and are sufficiently accurate at least for k>3 and Z<50. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] The present experimental data in the fsub(7/2) shell are compiled and a systematic analysis is carried out to produce the experimental Gamow-Teller matrix elements. These values are compared with the ones calculated by the empirical (fsub(7/2))sup(n) model. Additionally, the possible renormalization of the axial vector coupling constant is discussed. (author)

AbstractAbstract
[en] Pair-correlation energies at high spins are studied in cranking-HFB calculations under several model assumptions. The results are compared with experimental high-spin data: a) yrastlines of even-even nuclei b) systematics of rotational bands of odd-N nuclei and c) routhians of odd-N nuclei relative to corresponding routhians of neighbouring even-N isotopes.
