AbstractAbstract
[en] The accident prevention regulation applies to all kinds of power plants and cogeneration plants, irrespective of their water heating or steam generation systems. Among others, it is valid for thermal power plants heated with solid, liquid or gaseous fuels as well as for nuclear fission or future nuclear fusion power plants. Given the fact that the regulation includes but pipes operated together with the process heat or auxiliary systems, substations (e.g. those connected with district heating networks) are considered the power plants' boundary lines and now as before limit the scope of VBG 2. There are similar rules concerning the scope of VBG 2 in the case of supplies to power plants, e.g. from brown coal mines, continuous mechanical handling equipment or comparable systems for the disposal of ashes or residues from flue gas desulfurization or denitrification plants. VGB 2 also applies to all types of refuse-fueled power plants, irrespective of their thermal outputs. (orig./DG)
