James Gunn Gets Our New Hopes Up About Mark Hamill Appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 might have given us Kurt Russell as a giant daddy planet, but the third volume in the series could (hopefully) give us something even bigger: Mark Hamill.

Over the weekend, Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn was chatting with a fan on Twitter about possibly getting Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Hamill on board for the third Guardians of the Galaxy film. Then, faster than you could say “Help me, Star-Lord Kenobi,” Hamill himself chimed in to say “Sure bro.” After all, (uh, The Last Jedi spoilers) now that Luke Skywalker is dead, he’s got nothing else to do.

In the ensuing Twitter conversation, which blew the minds of everyone in the known universe, Hamill and Gunn privately exchanged info (they apparently live near each other) and seemingly (and by that I mean oh-please-please-please) set up a time to chat about getting Hamill away from the sad lonely island of Ahch-To and into the greater Marvel Cinematic Universe.

We won’t find out the results until promotion starts for the third Guardians of the Galaxy film, due in 2020. The Disney-owned franchises haven’t been shy about sharing actors, I’ll be keeping my lightsabers crossed.
