We had a great upper extremity trial fitting last Friday with the Adam’s Hand from BionIT Labs. Michael is a patient whose arm was amputated below the elbow due to trauma. Adam’s Hand is the World's First Fully-Adaptive Bionic Hand. Jeremy Hiett the sales manager for BionIT was part of the fitting. Ryan worked with Jeremy and the patient on the laptop to calibrate and customize the speed, grip and sense of the hand for the wearer. Jeremy demonstrate gripping on a power drill with the model. Some of the features of the Adam Hand include: · less muscle fatigue: the “fully-adaptive grip” technology makes the fingers automatically adapt to grasp objects’ shape and size. Integrated pattern recognition allows a calibration procedure will perfectly fit the device’s functioning to your muscle tone. A natural feeling of control is developed, turning the prosthesis into an extension of your body, thus enhancing your quality of life. · the Adam's Hand is durable and lightweight as well as and is waterproof and dustproof functionality. This is coupled with an innovative finger mechanism, that provides the prosthesis with a high compliance and resistance to external stresses that flex or extend the fingers.
