🌱🌍The bittersweet economics of cocoa in Colombia, Ecuador and Peru. As part of the @ClimaLoca and Sustainable Amazon Businesses projects, we explored the factors determining smallholder cocoa producers' success in Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru. We analyzed 15 production systems in different agroecological contexts, highlighting how the variables of fair prices, sustainable yields, crop diversification, and access to land are essential to generating a decent income for rural families. 🔑 📊Our analysis shows that cocoa can be profitable, but it requires sound public policies, technical support, and fair prices in the global market.
