🌍 𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘀 𝗙𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀? 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 🌱 🍞 Some days ago we had the pleasure of hosting Nicholas Jacobs, Consulting Director at IPES-Food, for an engaging seminar on food systems governance and the role of corporations. This insightful event, organized by Professor Antonella Samoggia and Postdoc Francesca Monticone, PhD, explored the intricate dynamics of how food systems are shaped and influenced globally. Drawing on the case study of alternative proteins, framed within the European Horizon projects LIKE-A-PRO and FEASTS, Jacobs shared valuable perspectives on the power dynamics, policies, and governance practices that influence food production and distribution. He shed light on the critical roles of governments, international organizations, and private sector actors, emphasizing the growing influence of corporations in shaping governance structures—often prioritizing private interests over the public good. 🙏 A special thanks to Nick Jacobs for sharing his expertise and to everyone who participated in this enriching discussion 💡📚
