The Department of Agricultural and Food Sciences (DISTAL) was born in 2018 as an integrated organization incorporating all the teaching and research activities of the agricultural and food area of the University of Bologna. It is organized to cover the main disciplines concerning agriculture, food, environment and the bioeconomy, in particular:; Agronomy and Field, Vegetable, Ornamental Crops; Agricultural Chemistry, Pedology and Agricultural genetics; Agricultural Engineering; Agro-environmental and Food microbiology; Animal Sciences; Chemistry, Biochemistry and Botany; Food Science and Technology; Fruit Tree and Woody Plant Sciences; Plant Pathology and Entomology; Agricultural and Food Economics. To answer the current societal challenges in the framework of SDGs and with the recent attention to resilience, the department promotes innovation in particular around research areas such as Precision Agriculture and big data, Water management, Soil health, Plant health, Circular Bioeconomy, Apidology and Apiculture, Aquaculture and fisheries, Genetic resources and agricultural and Food processing and bio-technologies in general. DISTAL has two main campuses: the headquarter located in Bologna (BO), focused on agriculture teaching, research and knowledge transfer activities and the campus of Cesena (FC), where food science educational programs and research activities are developed. However, DISTAL performs its main missions in other educational and research hubs located in Ozzano (BO), Cadriano (BO), Imola (BO) and Tebano (RA).

𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, 𝗣𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗹𝘂𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 🌱 🍞 Some days ago we had the pleasure of hosting Nicholas Jacobs, Consulting Director at IPES-Food, for an engaging seminar on food systems governance and the role of corporations. This insightful event, organized by Professor Antonella Samoggia and Postdoc Francesca Monticone, PhD, explored the intricate dynamics of how food systems are shaped and influenced globally. Drawing on the case study of alternative proteins, framed within the European Horizon projects LIKE-A-PRO and FEASTS, Jacobs shared valuable perspectives on the power dynamics, policies, and governance practices that influence food production and distribution. He shed light on the critical roles of governments, international organizations, and private sector actors, emphasizing the growing influence of corporations in shaping governance structures—often prioritizing private interests over the public good. 🙏 A special thanks to Nick Jacobs for sharing his expertise and to everyone who participated in this enriching discussion 💡📚

Requisiti • Qualifica richiesta: Laurea Magistrale di 2 anni (Master’s Degree) in Economia Agraria o discipline affini. Il possesso di un Dottorato di Ricerca (PhD) è considerato titolo preferenziale e attribuisce un punteggio aggiuntivo nella valutazione delle candidature. La tesi di dottorato sarà considerata come pubblicazione valutabile. • Competenze in metodi di ricerca quantitativi e qualitativi. • Interesse per l’agricoltura sostenibile, le tecnologie smart, e l'innovazione. • Capacità di scrittura e comunicazione sia in italiano che in inglese. • Capacità di lavorare in modo indipendente e collaborativo all'interno di un team. Competenze preferenziali • Esperienza nell’analisi dei costi/benefici o nella valutazione di impatto economico delle tecnologie. • Familiarità documentata con tecnologie agricole avanzate (ad es. droni, sensori IoT, big data). • Esperienza nel condurre ricerche sul campo e nell'interagire con stakeholder agricoli.
