How can we imagine and design with more-than-human bodies to adapt to climate change? Last January, we wrapped up our "More-than-human AI" design studio at Politecnico di Milano! Over the course of a full semester, 55 students explored the role of AI in post-extractive, regenerative ecologies, envisioning resilient climate futures. Their work resulted in 11 interactive installations that merge more-than-human design with speculative AI prototyping. A huge thank you again to all the philosophers, designers, scientists, and artists that lectured and workshopped with us throughout the course! Today, at Fondazione Pirelli, Laura Dellamotta, co-founder of Dotdotdot, and Bruno Genovese from Leftloft engaged in a conversation with an audience of students about how to enhance corporate archives through new languages and #technologies. Dotdotdot and Leftloft, both independent #design studios, collaborated on the #exhibition design for L’Officina dello Sport at Fondazione Pirelli and have always been committed to open and shared design practices. For this reason, they were invited to exchange ideas with today’s students - the professionals of tomorrow. The event provided a unique opportunity to explore, with two experts, not only fundamental topics such as the essence of design and the role of passion in creating meaningful work but also practical aspects: the financial sustainability of design studios, managing complex projects, balancing public and private commissions, and the challenges of design competitions. A great part of the conversation was dedicated to discussing new languages in communicating cultural contents, the use of data in narrative environments, the ways to navigate branded archives - as well as the key role of research and co-design in these processes. PALAZZO TRECCANI IN SHANGHAI - ITALIAN CULTURE FOR ALL Hosted at Bund 33, Hantang Culture, the exhibition marks the first stop in the celebration of Treccani’s Centenary. Through innovative #storytelling, it presents Italy as a dynamic hub of ideas, constantly evolving. Inaugurated yesterday, February 27, Palazzo Treccani – Italian Culture for All is curated by Massimo Bray, Director General of Treccani, and Francesco D'Arelli, Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Shanghai, with art direction and multimedia design by Dotdotdot. It is part of the broader Treccani Centenary celebrations, which began with the opening of Palazzo Treccani in Rome on February 21, in the presence of President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella. The Shanghai exhibition offers a new perspective on #Italy as a laboratory of ideas in continuous transformation. Visitors are invited on a journey through a Palace of Knowledge, a dynamic space where Italian culture comes to life through #images, #words, and new forms of #narration. Spanning 700 square meters, the exhibition features 20 videos across 13 spaces, structured around six key themes chosen by the curators: space, handmade, taste, heritage, imagination, and stories. These concepts welcome visitors from the entrance and serve as a narrative guide through a rich visual and auditory experience. Officially opened today by President Sergio Mattarella, the PALAZZO TRECCANI exhibition marks the beginning of a year-long celebration for the centenary of this prestigious institution, custodian of #Italian #culture. Palazzo Treccani offers an immersive journey through Treccani's history, designed to narrate the network of relationships that connect the cultural and scientific world with #society, #associations, and #businesses. Structured around symbolic environments inspired by an ideal Palace of Knowledge - including a Gallery of Knowledge, a Studiolo, and a Gallery of Works - through engaging stories, diverse languages, and interactive experiences the exhibition unfolds as an open, multifaceted, and polyphonic space encouraging free interpretations, and active visitor participation. Data visualization, animated digital archives, 3D image morphing, immersive videos, and soundscapes provide visitors with a rich experience complete with in-depth videos, audio content, texts, and works of art. We are particularly happy to have been selected by curator Carlo Ratti to participate in the Venice Architecture Biennale, which stages the power of #Natural, #Artificial, and #Collective Intelligence in envisaging architectural solutions for climate adaptation. It’s a theme that resonates deeply with us. Since our founding 20 years ago - and with the launch of our innovation hub OpenDot in 2014 - we have championed multidisciplinarity, co-design practices, open-source solutions, and collaboration within global, interconnected communities. Dotdotdot is part of the editorial team of the new Hearst architectural magazine and platform ABOUT: directed by Alessandro Valenti.  Our role, as #data specialists, has been illustrated today by Alessandro Masserdotti in front of an audience of companies and architects at the MEET Digital Culture Center in Milan. For ABOUT: Dotdotdot will be using data to illustrate projects, showing readers the ones that are already taken into consideration by architects - related to #economical and #social issues - and enlarging the analysis to the data that was not considered. The issue is to look at #architecture for what it is and for what it could be, moving from a human to a planetary focus. The new publication will be officially launched in May during the Venice Biennale - Fondazione La Biennale di Venezia.
