A round of applause to Luna for her hard work and dedication that led to a successful PhD Viva @ The University of Manchester 🎉 👏
Yesterday was a great day for me!😁 I successfully defended my PhD Viva👩🏼🎓, presenting my work on "Real-time Event-based Tracking for Low-latency Robotic Interaction with Complex Dynamic Environments", and completing an important step in my academic journey at the University of Manchester (#UoM). I’m happy to share that my efforts resulted in a positive outcome with minor corrections. 🚀 I want to thank my examiners, Prof. Jorg Conradt and Prof. Davide Bertozzi, for their valuable feedback, suggestions, and engaging discussion. A big thank you to my supervisors, Dr. Chiara Bartolozzi, Dr. Arren Glover and Prof. Angelo Cangelosi for their guidance and support throughout this journey. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the help of my team Event-Driven Perception for Robotics - IIT and I look forward to the next steps in my research 🎉👏

We are happy to share that the Event-Driven Perception for Robotics - IIT team, represented by Luna Gava will be at #humanoids in Nancy, France from the 22nd to the 24th of November to bring you into the world of neuromorphic vision with #eventcameras 📷 ! You will have the opportunity to talk with Luna about how an event-camera works, which are their advantages in practical applications, and get hands-on experience with our engaging demos using an event-camera! 📍 EDPR will be in the exhibition area within IIT village at Booth number 20. Can't wait to meet you and have an interesting discussion about future possible collaborations 🎉 See you there!

Our PostDoc Researcher Mikihiro is ready to reach #IROS2024! 🎉 We invite you to read his post and visit his poster if interested in efficient algorithms for event cameras. 📸
I'm thrilled to share that our #IROS2024 paper "RATE: Real-time Asynchronous Feature Tracking with Event Cameras" has been accepted for presentation at the 2024 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems! In this work, we introduce "RATE", a continuous real-time pipeline for asynchronous event-based multiple feature tracking. Our approach offers (i) consistent number of event-based feature trackers in real-time, and (ii) enhancement of tracking accuracy compared to SoTA event-only tracking. Code and Video: https://lnkd.in/gwgGRCY8 This achievement is the result of a collaborative effort between German Aerospace Center (DLR), The University of Technology Sydney, and The University of Tokyo, conducted when I was a visiting PhD student at The Technical University of Munich and German Aerospace Center. I'm immersely grateful to my supervisors Wolfgang Stürlz, Cedric Le Gentil, and supporters Marcus G. Müller, Florian Schuler, and Atsushi Yamashita. I’m excited to continue working on this research for future advancements in robotics and scientific exploration!

Last week saw this year's iteration of ISRC-CN³ Summer School at the Ulster University! It was a pleasure to attend the event and learn from some incredible speakers, including of course our very own Chiara Bartolozzi. I am also grateful to be recognized with an award for my presentation at the event. I look forward to using my enhanced knowledge on Mental Imagery, one of the major topics of discussion at the event, directly into the PRIMI Project that we at Event-Driven Perception for Robotics - IIT are a partner on. Congrats to Saugat Bhattacharyya, KongFatt Wong-Lin and Kaniska Samanta, and all the others involved in the organisation for the success of the event!

🚀 Ever wonder if cameras could see better than humans in tricky situations? 🤔 Bernard Maacaron a brilliant master's student, spent six months with our EDPR team tackling this exact challenge! In his research, Bernard made event cameras—those high-tech devices that detect changes in light—work even in low-motion or static scenes. Imagine a camera that doesn't miss a beat, even when nothing seems to be happening! 📸 Using brain-inspired tech called Spiking Neural Networks 🧠, Bernard developed a system that helps these cameras "remember" and "see" in scenes where most cameras would go blind. Perfect for robots and self-driving cars navigating our dynamic world! 🤖🌍 We are really proud of his defense, which gave him the maximum final score 🎉 Big thanks to his supervisors Chiara Bartolozzi, Arren Glover, and Fabio Solari. #Innovation #NeuromorphicVision #AI #Tech #Robotics #EventCameras #EDPR
