The CO2 Battery is on the cover of the “Priorities for Prosperity” - 2024 Activity Report by the European Investment Bank (EIB), and we’re glad to see our technology recognized as a catalyst for sustainable prosperity.   Yet, we know there is still so much more we can do in Europe to drive real impact.   After all, we’ve already successfully sold our CO2 Battery technology in India and the U.S., with several exciting international milestones on the horizon.   In Europe, however, progress remains slow.   To date, these are the facts:   🔴 The regulatory landscape is marked by sluggish permitting processes that exclude innovative and readily deployable solutions (such as ours) whilst still preferring or leaning towards lithium-ion   🔴 The policy frameworks are cumbersome   🔴 There’s still limited auction participation for new technologies, or even   🔴 Unacceptable and inexplicable exclusions due to bureaucratic glitches (this is exactly what happened in Italy with Terna’s MACSE auctions, which directly affected our FOAK CO2 Battery project in Sardinia).   Many of us, myself included, are eager to see the EIB’s monetary endorsement and its commitment translate into real-world deployments.   While being highlighted in the report is a recognition of what Energy Dome does, it’s somewhat ironic that we’re already building the future of modern energy in markets outside Europe.   Personally, beyond our existing FOAK CO2 Battery project in Sardinia, I look forward to taking a photo near the next fully operational European CO2 Battery, one that stands as a testament to the region’s commitment to clean, reliable energy.   Until then, we remain ready, willing, and able to support Europe achieve genuine prosperity. But first, we need to receive some prompt help, too.   Let’s turn recognition into action, and action into results. #CO2Battery #energydome #eib #europe #energy #future #sustainability #policy #ldes #investments #energystorage #climatetech #cleantech

Many thanks to Bianca Giacobone for her in-depth article on Energy Dome, highlighting our offtake agreement with ENGIE for our FOAK CO2 Battery plant in Sardinia, as this is a significant validation of our business model. Bianca had a chance to sit down and have a chat with Ben Potter, our Chief Operating Officer (Storage as a Service), who provided insights into our strategy and our partnership with ENGIE. If you want to find out more about what makes our technology so simple and yet, unique, we encourage you to read the full article: https://lnkd.in/eBjYxY38 This agreement demonstrates the strength of our approach, which is designed to carefully balance risk and reward for all parties involved. As Ben explained, through a tolling structure, ENGIE provides us with fixed, predictable income, allowing Energy Dome to take care of the technology and funding of the plant, while passing the market responsibilities (and its fluctuations) to ENGIE, who are better positioned to manage wholesale market dynamics and arbitrage issues. This collaborative approach is especially important when working with a first-of-a-kind technology like ours: it is essential to find partners who understand the journey from FOAK to nth-of-a-kind, and we found that alignment with Engie. The article goes more in-depth about how Energy Dome's energy-storage-as-a-service model relies on these kinds of long-term agreements and demonstrates the attractiveness of our offering. As Ben noted, we’re not reinventing the wheel, but innovating the process by integrating existing, readily available, and cost-competitive components. This strategic choice has enabled us to move rapidly towards commercialization and allows us to maintain a focus on process development, rather than supply chain issues. #EnergyDome #OurWorldCantWait #sustainability #longdurationenergystorage #innovation #CO2Battery #decarbonization #LDES #renewables

📨 Open letter: 100+ Cleantech Leaders Urge European Commission for Bold Action in Clean Industrial Deal 📨 Today, over 100 leading cleantech innovators and investors from across Europe come together to call on the European Commission to deliver an ambitious Clean Industrial Deal that will drive the EU’s competitive decarbonisation and secure its leadership in clean technologies.  In an open letter to President Ursula von der Leyen and Commissioners Stéphane Séjourné; Teresa Ribera and Wopke Hoekstra, Europe’s #cleantech industry outlines the urgent need for bold action in 2025 to address the perfect storm of challenges facing Europe: geopolitical instability, higher #energy costs, and mounting global #competition. The forthcoming Clean Industrial Deal must focus on sending two decisive market signals:  📈 A demand surge for cleantech: helping industries become more competitive by adopting state-of-the-art cleantech, establishing lead markets, integrating innovation into public procurement, maintaining the ambition of the ETS and CBAM, and fostering fair trade policies.  💶 Targeted public de-risking mechanisms: Expanding EU funding and guarantees to act as signal towards Europe’s €38 trillion in private capital to unlock cleantech’s full potential. Public guarantees and counter guarantees (such as those under the Wind Package) are helping to unlock private financing and working capital for cleantech manufacturing while being fiscally efficient. The EU and European Investment Bank (EIB) should prioritise creating blended finance vehicles pooling institutional investor capital on a large scale to unlock credit instruments which are critical to scaling industries.     Europe already can point to pioneering stories like Energy Dome (long duration energy storage, Italy), Stegra (green steel, Sweden), Sunfire (electrolysers, Germany), and Verkor (battery gigafactories, France)—but we need many more. With the right policies in place, the Clean Industrial Deal can create a strong business case for cleantech scale-ups, transitioning industries, and a prosperous, sustainable future for all European citizens. This is why this letter is led by cleantech initiatives across Europe: Cleantech for Iberia Tech for Net Zero Cleantech for France Cleantech for Italy Cleantech for Nordics Cleantech for Baltics This is a make-or-break moment for Europe’s industry.
