🇪🇺 Exciting News! 🇪🇺 I am honored to have been selected as an expert for the European Commission's DG CNECT studies on critical digital technologies. These studies will explore the next generation of emerging and critical digital technologies, from research and development to deployment and adoption, across the 2028-2040 time horizon. My expertise will contribute to shaping the future of Europe’s digital landscape. The studies aim to uncover the EU’s critical digital capacities deployment beyond 2027 and identify key strategic digital technologies for FP10. I will be participating in a Delphi Survey (March–April 2025) and a workshop (June 2025) to provide insights on future trends, critical digital capabilities, and strategic investment options for the next decade of EU policy. All consultation activities will take place online to ensure broad accessibility. I am excited to collaborate with fellow experts to shape Europe’s technological future. EuroXR is supporting NATO's workshop "NATO Use Of Civil Standards Workshop 2025" in Athens on Feb. 11-13. We are aware that eXtended Reality #XR and #Metaverse #VirtualWorlds originate from entertainment and military applications, such as #AR jet fighter helmet displays (in the years 1970s), VR military equipment training (in the 1980s), distributed simulation such as High Level Architecture #HLA, or geo location technologies for outdoor AR use cases. NATO has developed a good number of reports that may as well be applied to civil applications such as "TR-HFM-MSG-323 Guidelines for Mitigating Cybersickness in Virtual Reality Systems" or "TR-AVT-290 Augmented Reality for Improved Situational Awareness and Survivability of Combat Vehicles".
