GET highlights the strategic value of the hotellerie sector in the Italian #RealEstate market in the latest weekly issue of il Quotidiano Immobiliare. This trend was confirmed during the sixth edition of the ITHIC Italian Hospitality Investment Conference, in which we participated. 🔎 According to a 2024 survey conducted among European investors, Italy is currently the third most important destination for investment in the hotel sector; this result is also due to the growth of the tourism industry, which registered an average increase of 8% in visitors during the summer of 2024 compared to 2019. A rise in demand towards sustainable practices, driven both by increased client awareness and stricter EU regulations such as the #SFDR (Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation), creates new challenges in the hotellerie sector. #GETConsulting is currently helping stakeholders translate environmental excellence into a competitive advantage, aligning with decarbonization goals and with the EU taxonomy. 📅 Real estate as a tool to help tackle violence against women. Today, November 25th, marks the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. A complex and deeply troubling issue that requires collective action and multifaceted strategies to address. One of the critical approaches to tackling this issue is male education and fostering widespread awareness to dismantle the complex social constructs underlying these issues. In this intricated scenario, the built environment might have a vital role to play. 🔎The WELL certification, which focuses specifically on the social sustainability aspects of real estate, includes a feature dedicated to policies supporting victims of domestic violence. A crucial aspect to face, since one in three women has been a victim of physical or sexual violence by an intimate partner at some point in her lifetime (based on a recent report by the World Health Organization). The certification addresses this issue by combining education, resources, and practical support to aid victims and raise awareness within the workplace ecosystem. The Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) broadens the scope and depth of the information businesses must disclose in their ESG reporting. Replacing the previous Non-Financial Reporting Directive (NFRD), the CSRD strengthens the requirements by imposing stricter reporting standards based on ESRS (European Sustainability Reporting Standards). 🔎#CSRDReporting is not only a regulatory obligation, but also an occasion to consider the impacts, risks and opportunities associated with ESG issues. In particular, through the concept of double materiality, companies must report on both the positive and negative impacts of their value chain on the environment and people, as well as anticipating the impact of these macro issues on their financial health. 🔎#CSRD reporting will follow a phased approach, with larger companies reporting in 2025 and SMEs and non-EU companies reporting in 2027-2029. Compliance with the #CSRD enables companies to produce more reliable and actionable sustainability report, creating long-term value, improving transparency and building stakeholder trust. Andrea Pizza graduated in Energy and Nuclear Engineering from the Polytechnic University of Turin, focusing on design and management of energy systems. His master’s thesis dealt with the implementation of an advanced control strategy for the management of the heating system of a non-residential building, also leveraging Reinforcement Learning. Laura Juliana Gualdrón Frias worked on urban design, public space, and urban planning projects in Colombia, collaborating with government entities and real estate companies, with a focus on sustainable development. In 2018, she and the team at “Taller de Arquitectura Bucaramanga” won the Karl Brunner Award at the XXVI Colombian Architecture Biennial for their work on public space revitalization. They joined GET team early this year and are ready to support clients in achieving their sustainable goals.
