ICONS Innovation Strategies

The latest BEEYONDERS General Assembly featured the participation of ICONS representatives Eva Martinez, PhD, Social Innovation expert, and Marco Petazzoni, Social Innovation junior officer led a workshop titled “Monitoring and assessing the impacts of BT technologies on workers and working environment”. The workshop engaged participants in several interactive activities aimed at gaining a detailed understanding of the workflows for each of the project's use cases. The primary goal was to identify the various interactions between humans and the technologies developed within the project. The data gathered will be crucial for refining processes and data collection tools. On the same day, partners presented updates on the activities of the various pilot sites through workshop sessions, presentations, and the sharing of demonstration videos showcasing the progress of the project’s technology prototypes. Also present at the meeting was our Editorial senior officer, Diego Giuliani, who conducted a series of video interviews.   #beeyondersEU focuses on developing advanced technologies to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and address labour shortages in the construction industry. By integrating innovative solutions, the project aims to enhance performance and drive progress within the sector.

The third General Assembly of the SUDOCO project took place on November 19 and 20 in Roskilde, Denmark, hosted by project partner DTU - Technical University of Denmark. ICONS participated in the meeting with two representatives, Niccolò Belluati, Business Innovation officer, and Davide Valenti, Communication officer, who played an active role by updating the consortium on recent Communication, Dissemination, and Exploitation activities. They also led a focused workshop on collecting and defining KERs (Key Exploitable Results), helping to raise awareness about the potential uptake of project results at its conclusion. In addition, the meeting offered a valuable opportunity for ICONS to conduct several short video interviews with partners to promote the project and its activities across social media channels. #SUDOCO_eu is a project aimed at developing an open-source, data-driven platform to optimize wind farm performance by balancing energy production and structural stress, with integrated AI and cybersecurity for improved efficiency.

The Darwin project's first General Assembly has just concluded successfully in Tromsø (Norway)! This was a great chance to create bonds among all the partners, find research synergies in this pioneering #NGT research line, and introduce preliminary activities related to Dissemination, Exploitation and Communication. Our Business Innovation Officer, Luca Mascellaro, set the basis for the Exploitation activities, identifying the project's key results in a very actively participated workshop. ICONS was also involved in filming the first video interviews from #DARWIN_NGT. Our Communication Officer, Erika Novellini, recorded some pills introducing DARWIN goals, scientific results and the stakeholder ecosystem. Follow the project to learn more!

The #constructionsector in Europe needs to stay at the forefront of innovation to address key challenges related to cost, performance efficiency, labour shortages etc. The BEEYONDERS project is dedicated to developing cutting-edge technologies aimed at tackling these issues. Moreover, the scope of the project goes beyond the technical development and environmental and economic assessments by also focusing on understanding the potential implications these technologies will have on workers and the overall workforce structure. At ICONS Innovation Strategies, we are responsible for leading this dimension of the project. To this end, during the 5th GA held in Holcim France premises, my colleague Marco Petazzoni and I organized a workshop to gain deeper insights into the level of human-technology interaction in each use case and for each technology. Understanding these interactions in each use case is essential, as it will guide the development of effective methods for monitoring and assessing specific KPIs. We’re just back from the #CCRIKnowledgeHub General Assembly in Brussels, hosted by EURADA - European Association of Development Agencies. With all partners, we convened to outline the plan for the months ahead of us, towards successful engagement of EU cities and regions and roll out of our first support services. As ICONS, Marcello Bardellini, PMO, was there, presenting both the progress of Dissemination and Communication activities as well as the vision and expected outcomes of the upcoming online workshop we’ll organize.
