Last Week, #MedTSO’s Executive Board gathered in Tunis, kindly hosted by Société Tunisienne de l'Electricité et du Gaz (STEG) to advance several important initiatives. Resolutions and decisions include: 🔹 The review of the TEASIMED 2 project’s progress and approval of the 2024 Annual Report; 📊 🔹 Updates on financial planning & governance matters, alongside strategic discussions on a new grant proposal, ensuring support for Med-TSO’s future initiatives; 🔹 Validation of upcoming events. With these resolutions, Med-TSO takes further steps towards its goal of fostering a more interconnected, sustainable, and resilient #MediterraneanEnergy network. #EnergyTransition #EnergyCooperation

Last Wednesday, Terna SpA and Société Tunisienne de l'Electricité et du Gaz (STEG), both members of Med-TSO, inaugurated the #TernaInnovationZone in #Tunis, a specialist training laboratory for engineers and technicians in the energy field, and an acceleration site through which Tunisian startups will be able to access resources, skills and opportunities.   The initiative is linked to the large #Elmed infrastructure project, the first interconnection between Europe and Africa, also included in Med-TSO’s Masterplan of Mediterranean Interconnections, which will be realized thanks to the collaboration between Terna and STEG and that will foster the integration of the grids of the north and south shores of the #Mediterranean and the creation of the Mediterranean electricity market. #MedTSO #EnergyTransition #Cooperation  

Our Vice President, Serhat Metin from TEIAS (Türkiye), highlights the urgent need for energy transformation. Transmission System Operators play a crucial role in ensuring a secure and sustainable electricity system. Recognised as a bridge between TSOs in the #Mediterranean, #MedTSO fosters #EnergyCooperation through multilateral collaboration, coordinated planning, and cross-border projects. By integrating power systems, enhancing #GridIntegration, and supporting a sustainable #EnergyTransition, we contribute to a resilient and interconnected regional electricity market.

Recently elected Vice President João Emanuel Afonso from REN - Redes Energéticas Nacionais (Portugal) highlights the pivotal role of #electricity systems in driving the energy transition towards a decarbonised economy and society. 🌍 A new chapter in #EnergyCooperation begins! #MedTSO and the League of Arab States - General Secretariat (LAS) have recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding, marking a milestone in strengthening energy ties and fostering a more stable and integrated energy landscape in the #Mediterranean region. This partnership will drive #SustainableDevelopment, enhance #RegionalIntegration, and promote interconnected energy systems. Key actions include joint studies, collaborative projects, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. 🔋 This MOU represents a significant step towards enhanced energy cooperation for a secure and interconnected #EnergyFuture. The new year has started with impactful action! Last week, Secretary-General Angelo Ferrante joined the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA)'s pre-Assembly side events, addressing key enablers for the energy transition in the MENA region and the #Mediterranean. 🔋 He emphasised the need for coordinated effort involving TSOs, regulators, policymakers, and investors, together with essential anticipatory investments, to align the grid expansion with long-term policy goals. 🌱 🤝 On regional integration, he highlighted that regional integration and establishing a Mediterranean Electricity Market are key measures to promote energy transition.
