📣 We are thrilled to announce the publication of our latest study on the advanced analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in gilthead seabream, now available in #Molecules! This research is the result of a valuable collaboration between VRM srl, NaturAlleva and the Research and Innovation Center, Fondazione Edmund Mach (Trento). The study focused on the initial classification of VOCs in seabream collected from our farms during different times of the year. The analysis, conducted using PTR-ToF-MS technology, revealed how both geographical origin and seasonality influence the aromatic profile of the fillets, whether raw or cooked. Among the researchers contributing to this study are Fabio Brambilla, our fish nutritionist, and Mirco Perbellini, our quality control specialist at the lab. This research provides valuable insights into how farming conditions and nutrition contribute to shaping the unique flavor of our product, with significant implications for quality and market differentiation. 💪 We are proud to contribute to innovation in the aquaculture industry and look forward to further advancements. 🌱 ACInA: Innovation at the Service of Circular Aquaculture 🌊 Did you know that aquaculture is the most promising sector in livestock farming for expansion by 2030? Developing innovative feed formulations is key to supporting this growth and enhancing high-potential regions like Trentino. NaturAlleva is proud to partner on the ACInA project with the Fondazione Edmund Mach, Università Politecnica delle Marche, VRM srl and Baofly. This initiative is supported by FONDAZIONE CARITRO and adopts an interdisciplinary approach, fully aligned with the European Comminsion's Circular Economy Package, the Bioeconomy Strategy, and the Green Deal. 🎯 Project objectives: ✔️ Repurposing waste from insect farming to produce functional feed for aquaculture. ✔️ Promoting the sustainable development of trout farming, a cornerstone of the local economy. ✔️ Transforming aquaculture by-products into compost and fertilizers for sustainable agriculture. ✔️ Creating synergies between land-based and aquatic sectors, while strengthening the connection between research and the local economy. ✔️ Providing growth and training opportunities for young researchers involved in the project.
