📖 Professor Davide Fassi from the Politecnico di Milano has published a new book on the food-related research he is coordinating as part of the activities of #Spoke1 within the OnFoods project. Curious to learn more about Professor Fassi's research? Read the July interview 👉 https://lnkd.in/dyed876b

“Food procurement and short food value chains. An analysis of case studies in public and private realms” edited by Davide Fassi (Department of Design, Politecnico di Milano), published by FrancoAngeli. The PPP-URB project (Public and Private Procurement and Short Food Value Chains in Urban Areas) is a key initiative within the Onfoods PNRR research program, aimed at reimagining urban food systems. This volume showcases how the project, coordinated by the Department of Design, implemented a systemic design approach to integrate various disciplines and viewpoints, addressing the complexity of the topic. By analyzing case studies, the project investigates the role of food ecosystems in small territorial units, with a particular focus on university campuses, to understand their influence on local systems. The volume was produced within the framework of the Dipartimenti di Eccellenza initiative, for which the Department was selected by the Italian Ministry of University and Research (MUR) with "Design for Systemic Change", a project that addresses the complex challenges of ecological and digital transitions through an integrated and experimental design approach, with the aim of developing circular and sustainable solutions. The volume is available here: https://lnkd.in/dUFeyfSw #designpolimi #publication #research | FrancoAngeli | Le conoscenze per innovare OnFoods Foundation

🤱 How do maternal lifestyle factors influence the microbial composition of human breast milk? A research group from #Spoke5 at the Università degli Studi di Pavia has published a new article on the composition of human breast milk (HBM). The narrative review summarises the current understanding of how maternal lifestyle habits—such as diet, physical activity, sleep quality, smoking, and alcohol consumption— influence HBM microbiota. ✅ The findings suggest that maintaining a healthy lifestyle during pregnancy and lactation is essential not only for the mother’s well-being but also for shaping the infant’s gut microbiota and immune system development. The research group is affiliated with the Laboratory of Dietetics and Clinical Nutrition, coordinated by Prof. Hellas Cena. 🔗 Learn more: https://lnkd.in/dRbrYh4a
