The Orbis Project EU: Augmenting participation, co-creation, trust and transparency in Deliberative Democracy at all scales Context Democracy is in need of reshaping, with an emphasis on participation, engagement, transparency, responsiveness, accountability and effectiveness. The current state of solutions is fragmented, and produces scatters contents that often lead to dysfunctional argumentation. Challenge Citizens increasingly demand to be engaged in democratic and inclusive discussions about new ways to prevent, mitigate, and even resolve ongoing crises and conflicts. Objective ORBIS responds to the profound lack of dialogue between citizenship and policy making institutions by providing a theoretically sound and highly pragmatic socio-technical solution to enable the transition to a more inclusive, transparent and trustful Deliberative Democracy in Europe HOW CAN WE SCALE DELIBERATIVE DEMOCRACY? ORBIS will shape and support new democratic models that are imagined and developed through deliberative democracy processes that are digitally mediated. HOW CAN TECHNOLOGY HELP? These are processes of structured, inclusive and large-scale societal dialogue, which are built through strong civic engagement. Approach 1 Human-centric rather than a problem-centric approach to developing cutting-edge technologies + 2 Include AI and ML to appropriately and jointly addressing social and technical requirements Orbis Project EU #OrbisProjectEU #AugmentingParticipation #cocreation #trustandtransparency #DeliberativeDemocracy visit the website:

🌐 Orbis, alongside other European Commission-funded projects (AI4Gov, KT4D, Ithaca), contributes to the AI, Big Data, and Democracy Task Force, exploring the complex interplay between emerging technologies and democratic governance. 🚀 Selected for the AI UK Fringe (March 4-29, 2024), the Task Force participated in a workshop aiming to integrate AI into society responsibly and inclusively. 💡 From theoretical foundations to hands-on demonstrations, the workshop tackled how AI can support deliberative settings, promoting ethical and beneficial AI use in democratic processes. For more details, check out the article https://lnkd.in/dU7RnBK8 . For those who could not attend it, in the article there are also the links to the recordings of our joint workshop! #OrbisProjectEU #AI #BigData #Democracy #ResponsibleAI #AIUKFringe
