Trasporto ferroviario

connecting Europe

Chi siamo

There are currently 11 Rail Freight Corridors (RFCs) within the EU forming the RFC Network. They were developed based on the EU Regulation 913/2010 to create a European rail network for competitive freight traffic. Within the frame of the EU-plan of harmonizing the European Network, the RFCs manage the commercial side while the Core Network Corridors (CNC) manage the infrastructure. There is a constant collaboration between both for future development and harmonization of the European Network. The Regulation requests Member State to establish international market-oriented Rail Freight Corridors to meet three challenges : - Strengthening co-operation between Infrastructure Managers on key aspects such as allocation of path, deployment of interoperable systems and infrastructure development; - Supporting adequate capacity for international rail freight in line with market needs; - Promoting inter modality between rail and other transport modes by providing a dialogue platform with all involved stakeholders (incl. MoTs).
