But through every hurdle, the passion and dedication of these farmers have inspired us to keep going. They operate in a different ecosystem. While the myth is that they are "so expensive," the reality is quite different. Read more in our latest Biweekly Bazaar: https://bit.ly/3BkqMyW 👏🏽 Our Market Cities Network celebrated its first anniversary with a total of 50 organizations worldwide! 👏🏽 Co-ED Kelly Verel, was the keynote speaker at the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), sharing how local and traditional food markets enhance access to nutritious food. 👏🏽 Program Manager, Kurt Wheeler presented at the World Farmers Markets Coalition’s Second General Assembly, where she shared the value of a Market Cities approach to transform food systems. 2️⃣ 0️⃣ 2️⃣ 5️⃣ We’re excited to take this work into 2025, where we will host our 12th International Public Markets Conference with Milwaukee Public Market in Wisconsin in June!

Ce matin se déroulait l'Assemblée générale de mi-année de la World Farmers Markets Coalition réunissant plus d'une quarantaine d'acteurs agissant quotidiennement pour le développement et la prospérité des marchés publics à travers le monde. Au travers des échanges, nous avons eu le témoignage de notre ami et collègue Jean Charles K. du Liban. Jean Charles nous partageait qu'alors que le Liban était sous les bombes et que la population se réfugiait sous terre, son marché public a tout de même opéré en accueillant 9 marchands fidèles. Immédiatement après l'annonce du cessez-le-feu, ce ne sont pas moins de 43 marchands qui se sont solidarisés autour du marché public pour nourrir leur communauté. Nous parlons souvent de résilience des systèmes alimentaires locaux. Le peuple libanais nous en fait toute une démonstration. Yesterday was truly an incredible day. We held our Midterm General Assembly with the members of our Coalition. It was an opportunity to reflect on our milestones, unveil our vision for 2025, and share an inspiring discussion about our achievements, goals, and upcoming projects.
