Last Tuesday, we had the opportunity to attend the ESRF - The European Synchrotron User Meeting in Grenoble—a key gathering for the synchrotron community. These moments are a great chance for connecting with end users, exchanging insights, and discussing the future challenges and evolving vacuum needs in synchrotron radiation facilities. Last week, we had the pleasure to host Sol Omolayo, Vacuum Systems Lead of the Advanced Light Source facility at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, US. SAES has been awarded several contracts for the supply of complex NEG coated vacuum chambers for the upcoming upgrade of the machine, ALS-U. The meeting was held to review the status of the activities and align the parties to meet the challenges of these important and exciting projects. Riding for the Future of Energy: SAES and the Path to Fusion. SAES High Vacuum is proud to sponsor Ride 4 Fusion, a remarkable initiative by Consorzio RFX and ITER Organization to raise awareness about nuclear fusion. Over 10 days, a group of researchers, students, and workers biked from Padua to Cadarache, the site of ITER, the first experimental fusion reactor. On September 12, 2024, the Ride4Fusion made a stop at at the Territorial Pole of Politecnico di Milano in Piacenza, where PhD students and young researchers shared insights into Fusion Energy. Beatrice Busetto and Francesco Dinh from SAES spoke about their work in the HVD Dev Lab on vacuum systems for fusion applications.
