We are stepping into a new era! As Johnson Controls International plc (NYSE: JCI) (Johnson Controls) and Hitachi Global Life Solutions, Inc. (Hitachi) publicly announced, Johnson Controls and Hitachi reached a definitive agreement with Bosch Group on July 23 to sell the Residential and Light Commercial business, including the business of Johnson Controls-Hitachi Air Conditioning (JCH), a joint venture of which Johnson Controls owns 60% and Hitachi owns 40%, to Bosch. The transaction is expected to close in approximately 12 months, subject to required regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions. The Hitachi brand HVAC will continue to be produced and marketed under the new ownership structure, both in Japan and overseas. In this new phase, Hitachi Corporation will continue to play an active role as brand owner, ensuring the continuity of the rigorous quality standards for which it is renowned, as in the current joint venture structure with Johnson Controls. Christian Fischer, the deputy chairman of the board of management of Robert Bosch GmbH, said: "Johnson Controls' Residential & Light Commercial business has a consistent track record of excellence within the HVAC industry. Together with our future colleagues in the acquired business, we want to seize the huge opportunities offered by the market for the further growth of this new unit. The acquired entities will strengthen Bosch's Home Comfort Group in an extremely attractive segment and will become part of the Bosch core business."
