JNTO conducts programs to invite incentive travel planners to Japan every year. Three programs were already held this year, targeted at buyers from Spain-Mexico, Singapore, and Beijing, China, while another program for buyers from Malaysia is scheduled for early 2025. In November, we welcomed representatives from incentive houses and travel agencies specializing in incentive trips from Spain and Mexico to Japan. Their itinerary included visits to Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya, Inuyama, and Gifu. Focusing on experiences unique to incentive travel, such as exclusive venues and cultural activities, the program highlighted the distinctive appeal of Japan beyond general tourism. Participants immersed themselves in Japan’s traditional culture through hands-on experiences like kintsugi (golden joinery), temple carpentry, and swordsmithing. Feedback included comments such as, "We were delighted to discover and learn about new aspects of Japan's charm." Dive into Japanese art and culinary traditions at Chiba City Museum of Art! As part of the 9th International Discussion Meeting on Relaxation in Complex Systems (9IDMRCS) held in Chiba Prefecture in August 2023, attendees enjoyed an immersive cultural excursion at the Chiba City Museum of Art. Located just 30 minutes from Makuhari Messe, the museum is home to over 3,000 ukiyo-e masterpieces, offering guests a rare opportunity to experience one of Japan’s premier collections of these iconic woodblock prints. The program included a special lecture on ukiyo-e prints delivered by the museum director and expert curators, followed by a lunch reception held in the museum’s auditorium. The lunch featured a live sushi demonstration by a skilled chef and guests enjoyed Edo-style sushi and Boso-style thick sushi rolls paired with tastings of local sake. A video was also shown during the session to illustrate the intricate preparation process behind these dishes. Afterwards, a hands-on ukiyo-e workshop supported by English-speaking volunteers allowed guests to explore traditional woodblock printing techniques firsthand.
