This distribution agreement for this novel range of eco-friendly surfactants is applicable in the personal care market in Japan.   • 3D Cell Culture Vessel “MicoCell™” First Application in Regenerative Medicine Regenerative medicine treatments utilizing “MicoCell™” developed by Nippon Shokubai(Headquarters: Osaka, Japan, President: Kazuhiro Noda) have commenced at Saiseikai Sobajima Clinic and Research Institute (Location: Osaka, Japan, President and Medical Director: Satoshi Sobajima). MicoCell™ is a 3D cell culture vessel developed by Nippon Shokubai using its proprietary technology. Unlike conventional 3D floating culture vessels and 2D culture vessels, the surface of this culture vessel is made of a material designed to enable weak cell adhesion, thereby replicating an environment similar to that in vivo. When disaggregated cells are introduced, they bind to each other three-dimensionally and form uniformly sized aggregates (spheroids). This allows for the easy production of large quantities of high-quality cell aggregates, which are necessary for regenerative medicine, drug screening, and other drug discovery research.   • Nippon Shokubai announces shares acquisition of Lilac pharma (to make it a subsidiary) Nippon Shokubai has announced to acquire all shares of Lilac pharma Inc., to make Lilac pharma a 100% subsidiary on December 9, 2024. Lilac pharma which is a Hokkaido University-initiated startup, is developing its business based on lipid nanoparticle manufacturing technology focusing on the size of lipid nanoparticles. Their own “iLiNP Microfluidic Device” is different from conventional method, can continuously produce high-quality lipid nanoparticles of uniform size easily. Furthermore, since the size can be controlled widely, iLiNP is expected to be a technology for manufacturing highly functional lipid nanoparticles and is being provided for cosmetics and pharmaceuticals. Nippon Shokubai and Lilac pharma have successfully developed liposomes for cosmetics with characteristics such as extremely high stability through joint research since 2019.  By making Lilac pharma a 100% subsidiary, Nippon Shokubai will accelerate the development efficiency of liposomes and the establishment of a stable supply system, and aim to further expand its cosmetics and nanoparticle business for pharmaceuticals by utilizing the expertise in various fields. ※iLiNP is a trademark of Lilac pharma https://lnkd.in/e47uMN9C
