Why are NbS unique? They can simultaneously offer social, economic and environmental benefits! They offer biodiversity and livelihoods benefits while at the same time mitigating against the impacts of climate change. But NbS is not a new concept. It's something local communities and indigenous people have practiced for generations as a way of life, just that they didn't have a collective term for it. We spent the better part of last week demonstrating this fact to Ward Climate Change Planning Committee (WCCPC) members of Nyandarua, Nakuru, Baringo, Kajiado and Elgeyo Marakwet who are implementing #FLLoCA in their respective counties. Of central attention was how we can ensure more NbS interventions can be funded under the FLLoCA's investment stream. The session also gave us a unique platform to showcase the brilliant work we have done under Youth4Nature 's INUKA Afrika project and actually demonstrate that nbs can be successfully implemented on the ground to the benefit of biodiversity, people and climate. We also demonstrated the power of #systemsthinking and #Storytelling in implementing landscape in interventions and amplifying grassroot impact I wish to thank WWF-Kenya through Nickson Orwa and Caroline kikava for enabling this unique knowledge exchange exercise, and for allowing young people to meaningful contribute to solutions to the existential crises of our time. Also a big shout out to co-facilitators Modester Lynn, Kevin Nderitu Lawrence Rapando Ndakwe for making the session lively and interactive ! To many more such!

We are attending the 5th episode of LCOY-KENYA happening between 27th - 29th August 2024 in Nakuru!! This is an opportunity for our young people to get fully immersed in the journey of building generations for climate resilience through active participation in discussions around climate finance and policies #Naturebasedsutions. We are analysing the Kenya Climate Strategy as articulated in the National Climate Change Action Plan(NCAAP), Financing Locally Led Climate Adaptation (FLOOCA) to provide a comprehensive framework for transitioning towards a low-carbon and climate resilient economy. Towards the end of the conference,we look forward to creating a position statement for Kenyan youth which will be a presented at #COP29 in Baku,Azerbaijan. Local Conference of Youth 2024 and Nature-based Solutions It gives me pleasure to be attending this important local Conference of Youth to delve deeper on a restoration concept we have been implementing for the past one and a half years, Nature-based Solutions. Bringing many youths groups from all over Kenya implementing this approach in Nakuru, Epashikino Resort SPA is nothing short of interesting. Sharing what we have learnt throughout the INUKA Afrika pilot project with other youths is exciting. We look forward to learning, unlearning and relearning. I will keep you posted. Today, I was honored to participate in the Advancing the Protection of Harare's Ramsar Sites and Primary Water-Sourced Wetlands' event hosted by BirdLife International Zimbabwe BirdLife International , at Lake Chivero, one of Zimbabwe's Ramsar sites, I emphasized the critical need for education and awareness regarding the importance of wetlands. These vital ecosystems play a crucial role in water filtration, biodiversity conservation, and climate regulation. As we prepare for the upcoming Convention on Wetlands (COP15) which is an international treaty focused on wetlands, particularly ramsar sites of international importance. It is imperative that we prioritize the protection and restoration of our wetlands. By raising awareness and advocating for #technological and #sustainable practices,such as climate modeling, geographic information systems (GIS), restoration and reducing pollution to ensure that these invaluable resources are preserved for future generations.
