A few days ago, I had the privilege of attending the AISA Africa Good Governance Institute, led by the insightful Kristi Williams from the Association of International Schools in Africa (AISA). This event brought together #school #leaders and #governors from across the international school community, focusing on strengthening governance frameworks and fostering effective leadership. Key takeaways from the session: ✍ Roles & Responsibilities: Deep dives into the #pivotal role of #boards in setting #strategy, ensuring #accountability, and nurturing the Head of School for #operational excellence. ✍ Governance as Leadership: Exploring fiduciary, strategic, and generative modes to guide impactful decision-making. ✍ Effective Structures: Utilizing #governance documents, #board #assessments, and collaborative #partnerships to enhance board operations. ✍ Tools for Success: From governance #policies to #dashboards, these tools empower #schools to align strategy with mission and vision. The discussions, case studies, and resources provided practical frameworks to address challenges like board diversity, accountability, and #Head-#Board partnerships. This experience reaffirms the critical role of good governance in ensuring schools remain stable, visionary, and learner-centred for generations to come. In the event, I also had the privilege of meeting amazing leaders; John K. of Nairobi Academy and Debbie Kasura of Braeburn Group of International Schools - Kenya, Tanzania & Rwanda among others. Would love to hear how others are enhancing governance in their schools! Drop your thoughts below. 👇 #Leadership #GoodGovernance #EducationLeadership #AISA #SchoolGovernance
