Gender-based violence is a phenomenon deeply rooted in gender inequality, and continues to be one of the most notable human rights violations within all societies with many such incidences go unreported and this called for a need to develop a gender based violence reporting tool for the county. It was in this back drop, CYAN Kenya participated in a two day multi stakeholder meeting supported my UN Women in partnership with Uraia Trust, to review and digitize the Homa Bay County Gender Reporting tool 2025 that will set out a clear road map of reporting gender based violence issues in Homa Bay County.

At International Study Programs, we believe in fostering meaningful connections and empowering communities through immersive service-learning experiences. In partnership with ACTIVATE ACTION and CYAN Kenya, our Kenya Service-Learning Trip offers participants the chance to make a tangible difference in Homabay, on the scenic shores of Lake Victoria. This transformative program focuses on revitalizing an abandoned youth center that will host vital programs for rural Kenyan youth. These programs include sexual and reproductive health education, entrepreneurship training, and skills development tailored to the community's needs. Participants will engage in: ♦️ Hands-on work refurbishing the youth center, from structural repairs to planting trees, creating a space for empowerment and growth. ♦️ Sessions with local non-profits to explore impactful initiatives addressing healthcare advocacy and economic self-sustainability. ♦️ Cultural immersion in Luo traditions and a safari adventure in Ruma National Park, home to Kenya’s unique wildlife. This journey offers not only the chance to contribute meaningfully but also to gain profound insights into global citizenship and leadership. Interested in bringing this program to your students? Let’s connect to discuss how we can collaborate to make it a reality! Learn more about our Kenya Service-Learning experience here: https://lnkd.in/eqbhvxdY
