This event provided a valuable platform for stakeholders in the clean cooking sub-sector to share insights, experiences, and aspirations. We emphasized the importance of this strategic document in shaping the future of the cookstove sector, defining a roadmap to amplify ISAK's successes. Today on the second of August 2024, Clean Cooking Association of Kenya (CCAK) had the pleasure to participate in the 2025-2029 Strategic Plan Validation Meeting for the Improved Stoves Association of Kenya (ISAK) 🌍, supported by the Energising Development (EnDev)/ GCF, Promotion of climate friendly cooking in Kenya under GIZ Kenya. The meeting provided a platform for attending stakeholders in the clean cooking sub-sector to share their insights, experiences, and aspirations. 💬 In our opening remarks, we highlighted the significance of the strategic document in shaping the future of the cookstove sector; and defining a roadmap to amplify the successes and achievements of the association. 📈 ISAK, an active CCAK member, is a membership organisation bringing onboard 3,000+ producers, fabricators, installers, and distributors dealing in improved cook stoves in 32 counties in Kenya. The objective of this strategy is to guide the association through their National Management Committee (NMC), the Branch Management Committees (BMC) and all members to achieve their dream which is to have an eco-friendly cooking solution in every household in Kenya. 🏡♻️ As the sector coordinating body, CCAK continues to be proud of the key milestones achieved by key players in the sector, and especially its members. Communication on Progress (CoP) reporting is vital for tracking, measuring, and communicating a company's implementation of the Ten Principles of the United Nations Global Compact. By submitting timely and comprehensive CoP reports, companies are able to build trust and credibility with their stakeholders, identify areas for improvement through self-assessment and reflection, benchmark against industry peers and global standards, and mitigate risks while improving their overall business performance. We were delighted to host Kenya participants of the United Nations Global Compact to sensitize them on the importance of fulfilling these key obligations as part of their commitment to transparency and accountability.   Executive Director Judy Njino, who was in attendance, reflected on the evolution of sustainability reporting and the growing demands on companies by various stakeholders to account for their impacts on the society and environment. Participating companies were encouraged to adopt more comprehensive and transparent reporting practices, integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria into their business strategies to meet these heightened expectations. On her part, our Participant Engagement Assistant Manager Evonia Arina, M.MSK, guided members through our reporting requirements and how to navigate the new reporting system designed to help companies provide more quantifiable and comparable data thereby enhancing reliability of disclosures.
