We had an incredible experience at the Global Child Nutrition Forum in Osaka, Japan, hosted by the Global Child Nutrition Foundation. Our interactive workshop, with David Kamau as the keynote speaker, was a huge success. Participants engaged deeply in discussions about the integration of fortified whole grains and blends into school meals. We had the chance to showcase fortified whole grain products from our amazing millers across the continent and participants from the forum visited our exhibit, learned about the Fortified Whole Grains Alliance, and explored our products. Throughout the week, we attended plenary sessions and workshops from various organizations. We also visited schools in Japan to learn about their school feeding programs and Shokuiku (food and nutrition education). Interacting with students and staff was truly enlightening. We had an incredible visit to SIMPLY FOODS LIMITED today! Our day began with a meaningful discussion on the School Feeding Program, followed by an enlightening tour of the factory by Simply Foods' CEO, Shreeti Patel, who showcased their impressive production processes. One of their standout products is the Uji Mara Moja, an instant porridge that is as delicious as it is convenient. The highlight of our visit was gifting the three deserving winners of the #SwitchToWholeGrain campaign, who were super excited to receive their whole grain packages. In partnership with The Rockefeller Foundation, Fortified Whole Grain Alliance (FWGA) is working to improve the diets of schoolchildren and expand the market for nutritious foods in Ghana. We aim to leverage the existing school feeding programs, supported by the World Food Programme and the local government, to introduce parboiled unpolished rice (PUR) and ultimately fortified PUR (FPUR) into school meals. To achieve this, we’re collaborating with rice producers and other stakeholders throughout the rice value chain. Through previous efforts with the World Food Programme, The Rockefeller Foundation, and Intellecap Advisory Services Private Limited, we’ve identified potential millers for PUR and FPUR production in Ghana namely Max Industries Limited, Franco Farms and Premium Foods Limited. #LifeinFull #FortifiedWholeGrain #Nutrition #FWGImpact #NourishingFutures
