Honorable Member of County Assembly, Nairobi City County | CEO of Kenya Green Building Society | Chair of WorldGBC Africa Regional Network | ESG | Sustainable Cities Infrastructure & Finance | Climate Action & Policy

Ladies and Gentlemen, A few months ago, I spoke about seconding and championing the Climate Change Management Bill for Nairobi City County, sponsored by my senior Hon. Waithera Chege, Deputy Minority Leader After a VERY long and intense process and journey, I am SO proud to say we have succeeded in making this Bill an Act after successfully being passed by the Assembly, and now being assented to by the Governor, H.E. Johnson A. Sakaja. This Act, will unlock alot for the County not just in prioritising sustainability in County projects, but also unlocking finance both from adaptation, mitigation and a resilience perspective. This journey was long and could not have happened without the support of my senior Hon. Anthony Kiragu, Minority Leader, who helped us with lobbying, the Chair of the committee, and separately Odhengo Peter , the lead for FloccA at the Treasury, who constantly challenged me to keep pushing because Nairobi needed this to unlock next steps. I cannot emphasize how many times I felt like giving up, but my seniors grounded me and kept me focused on the success. Here we are, and the work is now about to begin so I invite partners and experts in this journey to join us, and support us help Nairobi realise it's potential as the green capital of Africa, and the World! 💪
