  • A Heartfelt Thank You to Nicole Straube 🌟 As we wrap up the final quarter of 2024, we want to take a moment to celebrate Nicole , who joined us as a volunteer and brought her expertise as a strategic planner and programs manager to Nivishe. Nicole has been instrumental in shaping our mental health and psychosocial support (MHPPS) programs for teen mothers and adolescent girls, helping us strategize for long-term sustainability. What stood out most was Nicole's genuine commitment to understanding our community. She didn’t just bring her skills—she brought her heart. By co-designing with our team and the girls themselves, Nicole helped us reimagine how we approach critical challenges. Her passion, kindness, and deep understanding of our work have left a lasting impact—not just on our programs but on the lives of the girls we serve. Nicole, your presence at Nivishe has been transformative. You’ve reminded us of the power of collaboration and compassion, and we are so grateful for the time, energy, and love you’ve poured into our mission. Thank you for being such an incredible part of our journey. 💛 #Gratitude #MentalHealthMatters #NivisheFoundation #CommunityDrivenChange

  • What makes this comic book so special? 🧠💭 It’s not just a story—it’s a movement that is rooted in local culture and made with care. It is also created alongside young people, for young people, shining a light on mental health through an inclusive lens. It is a tool for learning, connecting, and growing and is made accessible online for everyone. Grounded in science but easy to understand. This isn’t just something you read—it’s something you feel. #RealStories #MentalHealthAwareness #ForTheYouthByTheYouth #ComicsWithHeart

This week, my heart was so full as I attended the launch of Understanding Emotions, Kenya’s first-ever mental health-focused comic book created by the brilliant minds at @Nivishe Foundation. As a recent graduate of the @Nivishe Mental Health Fellowship, seeing this incredible milestone come to life felt deeply personal. This comic is more than just a book—it’s a game-changer. By breaking down complex mental health concepts into simple, relatable language, it makes these conversations accessible to younger audiences and communities that often struggle with stigma and misunderstanding. I couldn’t help but feel inspired by the dedication of Amisa and her team. This is how we change narratives, how we normalize the hard conversations, and how we bring hope to those who need it most. I can’t wait for part two and everything this series has in store. This is the Kenya I want to see—innovative, inclusive, and compassionate.

  • Highlighting Mental Health Advocacy in Action 📰 Taking a brief breather from the excitement of our comic book launch to shine a spotlight on our amazing colleague, Miriam Okotta , who contributed to a thought-provoking newspaper article on "How Employers Contribute to Employees' Mental Illness." Miriam's insights highlight the critical need for workplaces to foster supportive environments that prioritize employee mental well-being. Her voice amplifies our mission at Nivishe to create safe spaces for mental health conversations and drive change across all sectors. We’re proud to have such passionate advocates on our team who are not only making a difference in our communities but also in professional spaces. Let’s keep the conversation going! #MentalHealthMatters #WorkplaceWellbeing #NivisheImpact #AdvocacyInAction
