About us
STEAMLabs Africa is a nonprofit organization that seeks to mainstream STEAM Teaching and learning in through partnerships with those schools and other academic institutions. This is made possible by our rigorous and 21st Century curriculum that prepares learners for challenges and opportunities within and without the classroom. We work with professionals and organizations that connect with our vision to ensure that learners in Africa and beyond get an exposure to the Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Engineering concepts, and an understanding of the world at an early age. STEAMLabs exposes learners to technology with a core ethos of re-igniting creative potential and igniting young and bright minds. With hands-on experience, guided tutorials and the use of modern educational tools, learners are able to explore their own interests through STEAM education and gain pertinent skills and knowledge that better prepare them for current and future careers. Our approach to learning emphasizes on engaging, developing and nurturing learners interest, strengths and confidence through active and experiential learning. Design thinking process is adopted as a projects guide where the learners are encouraged to go through the five steps and iterate until they get the best solution for the problem at hand. We fail early, fail often and fail forward!

👻 Project of the Week: Ghostbusters! 🎮 This week, we took on the challenge of creating a game about catching ghosts with our project "Ghostbusters!" I was thrilled to see the learners' creativity, excitement, and curiosity shine through as they brought their ideas to life. During this project, the learners explored important coding concepts, such as: - Understanding the need for pauses between actions within loops - Using code to generate random numbers in Scratch - Adding a variable to store and track the game score A big thank you to STEAMLabs Africa for making these learning experiences possible. We keep pushing forward, one game at a time! #STEAMLabsAfrica #TeachForKenya #CodingForKids #TechEducation #CreativeCoding #Innovation Raspberry Pi Foundation

🚀 Project of the Week: Lost in Space! 🌌 This week, the learners took their coding skills to the next level with a project called "Lost in Space." They learned how to program their own animations using Scratch, exploring key programming concepts like: - Using repeat loops to animate sprites - Applying forever loops to create continuous animations - Understanding how loops can be nested within each other It's incredible to see their creativity and problem-solving abilities grow as they dive deeper into coding! Looking forward to more exciting projects ahead! STEAMLabs Africa Teach For Kenya #CodingForKids #TechEducation #CreativeCoding #Innovation
