Many thanks to Strathmore University Finance and Financial Economics Students Association. (SUFFESA) who invited me to speak on Personal Branding on 14th June courtesy of my good friend Jimmy Kihato. Personal Branding has been that skill that pays handsomely when you continuously work on it. Personal Branding could be defined as what do you want people to know you for? During the talk I explained using 3 simple elements, I call it the Personal Branding Trifecta: 1. Look the part - "God looks on the inside, human beings look on the outside" - Jim Rohn. Dressing has to rhyme with your profession and industry. 1st impression matters. 2. Talk the part - Given any opportunity can you effectively deliver a message, that is clearly understood and triggers action. Can you persuade others to join your cause. This trait I owe to Downtown Toastmasters Club - Nairobi. I've learnt a lot, grown as a speaker and am still growing, since I joined 3 years ago. 3. Walk the part - Talk is cheap as they say. This is the hardest element. You need to demonstrate that you know what you're talking about. You need to go a step further to execute and show results. I am humbled over the course of 5 years: 1. I've built a strong portfolio at www.fundimwaniki.com and teach others how to do so at courses.fundimwaniki.com 2. I've inspired a few curious people to join my cause at Uchambuzi Mahiri What do I want to be known for? I want to be known for helping people see data better, perceive it better, discuss it better and finally act better. How about you?
