Nurturing organizations to create safe environments for all
About us
Tunza is a Swahili word meaning " to nurture". As our name implies, Tunza Safeguarding aims to nurture organizations, institutions and communities to develop and implement stringent child-safeguarding structures to create safe environments for all. Established in 2020, Tunza Safeguarding is the only Kenyan-based safeguarding consultancy focusing on equipping and nurturing organizations to develop and implement stringent safeguarding procedures and policies to create safe environments. We take seriously the statutory and moral duty that organizations have to protect and promote the well-being of children and vulnerable adults under their care and recognise that it is everybody's responsibility to protect them.

We must create environments where everyone, especially the most vulnerable, can feel safe and secure. This means having robust safeguarding practices in place, regularly reviewing and updating policies, and fostering a culture of accountability and awareness. Is your organization investing in safeguarding practices? Reflect on how your policies and procedures protect those in your care. Are your staff trained and equipped to handle safeguarding concerns? When was the last time you conducted a safeguarding audit? At Tunza Safeguarding, we believe in the power of collective effort to create safer environments. We offer comprehensive services to help organizations develop and maintain effective safeguarding practices. How effective are your policies and practices on safeguarding? It's crucial to conduct regular safeguarding audits to assess effectiveness. When was the last time your organization conducted a safeguarding audit? Reflecting on this question can help you identify areas for improvement and ensure compliance with set standards. Are your policies up-to-date with the latest best practices? Do your staff members fully understand their roles and responsibilities in safeguarding? Regular audits not only highlight gaps but also reinforce a culture of continuous improvement and accountability. Take a moment to evaluate your current practices and consider scheduling your next audit. Your commitment to safeguarding is essential for creating a safe and secure environment for everyone involved. email - info@tunzasafeguarding.com

HAPPY MONDAY!! 😄 What quote/statements reminds you about safeguarding? I'll go first 👇 . "There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they're falling in." Protection is about pulling people out of the river, while safeguarding goes upstream to prevent them from falling in. Protection involves immediate, reactive measures to shield individuals from harm, abuse, or neglect whereas safeguarding involves proactive, comprehensive measures to create a safe environment and prevent harm from occurring in the first place. #tuwatunzeni
