Lake Health and Wellbeing reposted this
Non-communicable diseases (NCDs) pose a severe public health threat in the Caribbean, accounting for up to 74% of deaths. Lake Health and Wellbeing and Abi Begho (nee Ajose-Adeogun) used one of our Capacity Strengthening Grants to: ➡️ Build a civil society coalition focused on addressing the threat ➡️ Engage the Prime Minister’s Office and Ministry of Health ➡️ Delivering training and workshops for other organisations in the coalition. The capacity strengthening grants stream supports less well-established organisations in the Commonwealth’s small and vulnerable states. The grants emphasise the importance of local ownership by enabling partners to allocate resources where they are most needed.

In the world of poly-crisis with extreme climate events, wars and conflicts and global economic recession, NCDs remain at the centre of the toll taken on people’s health. It’s time to deliver on commitments and bring about positive results at the UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs in 2025. Non- communicable diseases remain the leading Cause of death worldwide. The world cannot afford to overlook NCDs in global political agendas. #NCDAF2025 (Global NCD Alliance Forum, February 13th - 15th) brings together leaders from different sectors and continents to mobilise our efforts in the lead-up to the UN High-Level Meeting on NCDs in 2025! We are extremely grateful to have been offered a travel grant by the NCD Alliance to attend the upcoming event, and we are proud of Lake Health and Wellbeing's Advocacy Officer Michele Baker for representing our federation at the event #NCDAF2025 #NCDs #ActOnNCDs
