The Food Heritage Foundation (FHF) is a Lebanese non-profit organization dedicated to leveraging local food heritage for economic development. Established in 2013 by the Environment and Sustainable Development Unit (ESDU) at the American University of Beirut, FHF promotes sustainable rural livelihoods, local food systems, and best practices in agro-food production. Their mission is to revive traditional cuisine and local produce, enhancing the livelihoods of rural producers and processors through robust rural-urban linkages. FHF also spearheads capacity-building projects to ensure the sustainability and scalability of farmers and agribusinesses. In December 2024, FHF supported H Farmlands (located in northern Bekaa Valley) by procuring part of their olive oil production, helping them overcome challenges posed by the previous conflict. At Terre Verte, we commend such initiatives, which are crucially needed in these challenging times by supporting farmers & landowners.
