AUB President Dr. Fadlo R. Khuri, MD, SVP Dr. Imad Baalbaki, and AVP Ms. Salma Dannawi Oueida recently concluded a trip to Sydney and Canberra, Australia, strengthening ties with alumni, industry leaders, and educational institutions and the vibrant Lebanese community. Key highlights included: -Alumni Networking: Over 45 AUB alumni and friends gathered in Sydney for a special event organized by the WAAAUB Australia Chapter led by Chapter President Maya El Hajjar (BBA ’09) with President Khuri sharing updates on American University of Beirut initiatives and opportunities to support Lebanon. -Academic Collaborations: Meetings with University of Sydney and the Australia Lebanon Foundation LTD (ALF) led by Foundation Patron Fadia Ghossayn AM to explore research partnerships and student exchange programs; and with Unity Grammar CEO Dr Sayd Farook Ms. Mahassen Joud, Senior Managing Director.  -Industry & Business Partnerships: Engaging with leaders in business and philanthropy, including the Australian Lebanese Chamber of Commerce led by its President Salim Nicholas, the President and Australia Lebanon Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ALCCI), Mohamad Hage and major industry figures. -Key events participation: President Khuri was the keynote speaker at the Australia Lebanon Foundation LTD (ALF) Scholarship Dinner at University of Sydney. In addition to connecting with community and business leaders at the networking dinner organized by the Sydney Consul Charbel Macaroon and the Australian Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala Dinner attended by SVP Dr. Imad Baalbaki and AVP Ms. Salma Dannawi Oueida. -Government Engagement: A special day started with a productive discussions with Education Minister Jason Clare MP building educational and cultural bridges, and toured the Australian Parliament House in Canberra, including an intimate lunch hosted by His Excellency Ambassador Milad Raad (BA Political Studies ’93, MA Political Studies ’99) with Canberra-based AUB alumni, followed by an Honoring Service and a visit to the War Memorial where President Khuri laid a wreath to honor AUB’s heritage and commitment to global solidarity. -Media Outreach: President Khuri spoke on SBS Arabic24, highlighting AUB’s global mission to support Lebanon and build global connections.   This visit marks a significant step in American University of Beirut’s commitment to build global partnerships for a brighter future for students and the community.
