  • Empowering Youth for Sustainable Wetland Tourism The Nagenahiru Environmental Learning Center is training the youth of Godahena Village, Ambalangoda, as tour guides for The Lake Heritage, under its Sustainable Wetland Tourism Project at Madampa Lake. As part of this effort, an enriching training session on butterfly conservation was conducted at the Nagenahiru Environmental Learning Center, led by Prasad Tharanga from Dilmah Conservation. This initiative aims to empower village youth with the skills and knowledge needed to become expert nature guides for Madampa Lake, enriching their livelihoods while promoting sustainable tourism and biodiversity conservation.   • Second Step Towards a Butterfly Garden at Kularathna College, Ambalangoda! 🦋 We are thrilled to announce that the Nagenahiru Environmental Learning Center, in collaboration with Young Friends of Nature, has embarked on an inspiring project to establish a butterfly garden at Kularathna College, Ambalangoda. This initiative aims to improve biodiversity and cultivate a love for nature among the future leaders of our planet. At the start, an insightful lecture about butterflies was held for the environmental pioneer group of the school, providing foundational knowledge on creating and maintaining butterfly gardens. Following the session, students eagerly planted butterfly-friendly plants on the school premises, taking a significant step in fostering an environment that nurtures these beautiful pollinators.   • සේලරුවා Common Sailer මෙම සමනලයා දිවයිනේ බොහෝ ප්රදේශ වල වාර්තාවේ. ගැහැණු හා පිරිමි සමනලුන් එක සමානය. ඉහළ සහ පසුපස පියාපත්වල සුදු පැහැති හරස් තීරු දක්නට ලැබේ. පියාපත්වල යටි පැත්තේ පසුබිම දිලිසෙන දුඹුරු පැහැතිය. එහි සුදු පැහැති පැල්ලම් දකින්නට ලැබේ. උරස කොටසේ දිලිසෙන කොළ පැහැයක් දක්නට ලැබේ. මෙම සමනලයා ගැඬුඹ, ඇපල වැනි ශාක වල බිත්තර දැමීම සිදු කරයි. එමෙන්ම කුඩා මල් වලින් පැණි උරා බොයි. This butterfly is found in many areas of Sri Lanka. Male and female are similar. There are horizontal white streaks on both wings. The background of its lower side is golden brown, with white patches seen on the upper surface. It's thorax has a greenish sheen. Larva feeds on plants like 𝘛𝘳𝘦𝘮𝘢 𝘰𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘴 , 𝘜𝘳𝘦𝘯𝘢 𝘭𝘰𝘣𝘢𝘵𝘢.
