A strong, shocking and eye opening execution by Janashakthi Group, crafted by none other than the wizards at Magic Mango and Popkorn 🥭🍿
We may not be an industry like healthcare or education, but I have always said that advertising has the power to change the world. It’s why we do our best to support special days like today, the ‘Day for the elimination of violence against women’ with creativity that can hopefully make at least one life better. This piece of work, done for our client, the Janashakthi Group (JXG) and the Janashakthi Foundation, marks the third consecutive year that the team at Magic Mango, Popkorn, Pimpl and Slot Machine have worked towards making a change on this day. I first heard the idea almost a month ago by one of our most junior creative resources, Isuru Aberathne, and even then, in its rawest form, I could see how special it could be. Thanks to the art wizardry of Tehani Walpola, and the huge effort of the rest of the team, Sagar Hiranand, Stuart Deckker, Lihini Welagedara, Wasih, and of course Isuru himself, it came to life in the best way possible. A huge shoutout to the team at JXG as well, particularly Sashi Schaffter and Gamika De Silva, who believed in the idea and the cause so much that they insisted we make zero changes. A thank you also to the teams at Women In Need, Sri Lanka, CCC Line Sri Lanka and Sri Lanka Sumithrayo who allowed us to add their contact details to the ad to offer victims many avenues to reach out to. This ad is just part one of JXG’s commitment to the cause, and will hopefully be the start of a better future for a great many women in Sri Lanka.
