On September 25th, a meaningful human rights awareness session was conducted at B/T B.W. Karadiyanaru M.V. for a group of 31 enthusiastic students. The session aimed to enlighten young minds about the importance of human rights and their pivotal role in creating a fair and just society. Through interactive discussions and engaging activities, students explored essential human rights principles, fostering a deeper understanding of equality, justice, and respect for all. This project empowered participants to recognize and uphold their rights and advocate for the rights of others within their communities. This initiative was made possible with the invaluable support of institute staff, emphasizing the importance of community collaboration in fostering awareness and respect for human rights. By inspiring the student club to take up the mantle of advocacy, this session set the stage for a broader movement within and beyond the institute, empowering young leaders to stand up for justice and equality. The program highlighted human rights, their importance, and challenges while addressing the dangers of drug abuse under the theme “Today's Youth, Tomorrow's Leaders.”  The session encouraged active participation, with students discussing preventive measures and showcasing their individual talents. Shashikala Sewwandi 🗓️ Date: 8th October 2024 📍 Location: Trincomalee Campus, Faculty of Applied Science, Department of Computer Science The "Human Rights for Youth" project, organized by the Road to Rights organization, brought together 28 undergraduates from the 19/20 batch of Trincomalee Campus. The session introduced basic human rights, focusing on increasing awareness and understanding of their significance in promoting equality and justice. Through engaging discussions and interactive presentations, students explored the fundamental rights every individual is entitled to. By the end of the session, participants were equipped with deeper insights, paving the way for a more informed and rights-conscious campus community.
