The Honorable Minister of Science and Technology, (Prof.) Chrishantha Abeysena, visited the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) on December 31, 2024, to preside over the progress review meeting. The gathering was attended by key stakeholders, including the Secretary to the Ministry of Science and Technology, Mr. Y.L. Mohamed Navavi; the Director General of Planning, Mrs. M. M. G. K. Meegahakotuwa; the Chairman of SLSI, (Prof.) Theekshana Suraweera; the Director General of SLSI, Dr. (Mrs) Siddhika G Senaratne; Deputy Director Generals Mrs. Samanthi Narangoda and Mrs. M.B.D. TRAINING PROGRAMME ON PRODUCTIVITY IMPROVEMENT THROUGH 5S AND 3R CONCEPTS 🔴Introduction The Japanese management practice of 5S Good Housekeeping and Workplace Organization has gained widespread acceptance in Sri Lanka. 5S is a simple and immensely practical approach to quality improvement. WORKSHOP ON ISO 14001:2015 STANDARD AND IMPLEMENTATION OF ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS   🔴Introduction ISO 14001 is a standard concerned with environmental management and the way an organization goes about minimizing its harmful effects on the environment. ISO 14001 based Environmental Management System as a proactive management tool allows an organization of any size or type to control the impact of its activities, products or services on the environment. This two-day workshop is aimed at companies involved in implementing an ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems (EMS). Ultra Aluminum (Pvt) Ltd, based in Batticaloa, has achieved ISO 9001 certification for its Quality Management System from the Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI).  The certification was formally presented by Dr. (Mrs.) Siddhika Senaratne, Director General of SLSI, to Mr. A.M. Unais, Chairman of Ultra Aluminum (Pvt) Ltd.  The ceremony was attended by Mrs. Deepa Neelakanthi, Deputy Director General, Mr. L.H.
