✨ 75 days left until the public hearings for the #ClimateICJAO start in The Hague!! ⚖🌍 The public hearings for the climate change advisory opinion (AO) are scheduled to start on December 2nd! As Prajwol Bickram Rana says, it is crucial for countries from the Global South to come to The Hague to remind the world of the climate catastrophes they are already facing. We call on these countries specifically to confirm to the ICJ before the deadline of 2 October that they want to make use of the opportunity to participate in the public hearings. 🏛 💭 The International Court of Justice has been asked to interpret international law on the topic of state obligations in the climate crisis. The resulting advisory opinion will be a document with great authority, and as such, a major opportunity to shape international law and create more climate action! Stay tuned for more information, and more updates ⚡ Miss nothing, follow World's Youth for Climate Justice (WYCJ)! #AOLetsGO #ICJAO #ICJAO4Climate #ITLOS #IACtHR #ClimateJusticeAtTheICJ #ClimateChange #OurFutureOurRights #ClimateJustice

🌍International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer – 16 September 🫧The ozone layer, a thin but vital shield in the Earth’s atmosphere, protects all life by absorbing the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation. Without it, life on Earth would face severe consequences, from increased skin cancer and cataracts in humans to widespread damage to ecosystems, crops, and marine life. Recognizing the urgency of preserving this protective layer, the international community adopted the Montreal Protocol in 1987. This groundbreaking treaty aims to phase out ozone-depleting substances (ODS), such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs), once used in refrigeration, air conditioning, and aerosols. Thanks to global cooperation and the protocol’s enforcement, the ozone layer is slowly recovering, showcasing the power of collective environmental action. ❗️Why is 16 September Important? On this day, we commemorate the signing of the Montreal Protocol, celebrating the progress made in protecting the ozone layer and highlighting the continued need for vigilance. The International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer serves as a reminder that while we’ve come far, there is still work to be done to ensure the ozone’s complete recovery. ❗️How Can We Preserve the Ozone Layer? Even with significant progress, protecting the ozone layer requires continued effort. We can all contribute by avoiding products that contain harmful chemicals, advocating for policies that promote sustainable alternatives, and raising awareness about the importance of ozone layer protection. 🌱How WYCJ Joins the Effort At World’s Youth for Climate Justice (WYCJ), we are committed to the global effort to preserve the ozone layer. Through our campaigns, workshops, and partnerships with schools and local organizations, WYCJ promotes awareness about climate justice. We believe that empowering the youth with knowledge and a voice is key to ensuring a sustainable future. As we observe International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer, let’s celebrate the strides we’ve made and continue to work together to safeguard our planet for generations to come. #ozonelayer #ozoneprotectionday #icjao
